It is a plain and simple hotel, but with good taste! There are two lovely shops and a cafe! And, a movie theater! The dorm room was great! Nice lighting, too. Clean and one's own area was spacious. Verrry comfortable bed, too! Daily clean towels were provided.
I did not mind, but other people might not appreciate the unfriendliness of the staff at the reception desk. One or two staff only were wonderful! Also, if one hopes for a kitchen, there isn't one. However, it's a bonus that there is a fridge, hot water and a microwave. There was nothing else. No counters or dishes=No space. It is a hotel:)

We stayed in the mixed dormitory room at HOTEL KARAE, and it was honestly such a great experience. This is definitely not like a regular dormitory! The sleeping spaces are thoughtfully designed and feel much more comfortable and private than a typical shared room. Everything was extremely clean, modern, and well organized.
The location is also excellent and very convenient for exploring Karatsu. The whole hotel has a stylish atmosphere, and the staff were very kind and welcoming.
If you usually avoid dormitories because you prefer more privacy and comfort, do not let the words “mixed dormitory” put you off. This one feels completely different, and we were very comfortable throughout our stay.
We absolutely loved HOTEL KARAE and would happily choose it again whenever we visit Karatsu. Highly recommended! ❤️

A very decent option in Karatsu. Located two minutes from the train station. Clean, quiet, and welcoming—the staff is friendly but unobtrusive. The rooms are compact but well-designed, with everything you need. The hotel itself is a complex with a café, coworking space, art center, and gift shop. The price-quality ratio is pleasantly surprising.
I would like a little more variety in breakfasts.
