Nestled in Houghton Lake, this lovely cottage for $100 per night is a great option for your next break. Road end access to the beautiful Houghton Lake, the largest inland lake in Michigan. Come and enjoy a true "Up North" log cabin getaway. Located on a large wooded lot. Step inside, and feel the stress leave your body, and the relaxation enter. Whether you are a "summer" person, or a "winter" person, or both, this beautiful log cabin will provide you the perfect home base while you enjoy your vacation activities in Houghton Lake. The Woodland Retreat is a 2 bedroom 1 bath authentic "Up North" log cabin, with gas log fireplace for those cool summer evenings, and those snowy winter nights. We have a spectacular back garden with grilling, dining area, and fire pit. Plenty of room in garage for your fishing tackle, hunting gear and off road vehicles! We are situated on 3 lots, so plenty of room, and even though we are in a woodland setting, we are just blocks from M-55, and all of the activities that Houghton Lake has to offer~ Great bars, and dining~ lush green golf courses~ grocery stores, and theaters. There are also great kids activities~ mini golf~ bumper boat racing~ bounce houses~ go carts, and batting cage. We have road end access, to the amazing Houghton Lake, Michigan's largest inland lake, 20,044 acres, with 30 miles of shoreline known for it's spectacular fishing~ summer, or winter~ walleye, bluegill, crappie, northern pike, large, and small mouth bass, bullhead, and yellow perch. You don't have to love fishing to love Houghton Lake, boating, swimming, and just sitting on the beach soaking up the warm summer Michigan sun. Surrounded by State land, and great trails for snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

We had a great time relaxing in this beautiful cabin. It's if we went back in time with the log and knotty pine interior. Close to everything you might need nearby, including the Walmart up the street. The porch was a great place to sit and read a book or two and stayed pretty warm during the winter storm. The kitchen had everything we needed with pots/pans, microwave and coffee maker. Communication with the owner was fantastic and she was available if we needed anything. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to stay in a quaint, nostalgic up north cabin.

Cozy cabin nestled in wooded lot makes you feel like you’re in the UP. Yet Houghton Lake, golf courses, and all imaginable amenities within a few minutes. Our hostess, Debra, was very accommodating.
We had our wedding ceremony nearby and stayed at the cabin for a low key, relaxing honeymoon. It was the best. We will definitely be staying here again.

We've been to this cabin once before and it never ceases to amaze me. The property is beautiful. It's a short walk to the boat launch and only a mile or two to the beach. The log cabin gives off a nostalgic feeling. My favorite place is the reading nook. It's mostly windows and you can snuggle up in the recliner with a book and a cup of coffee and see the trees all around you. We got to meet Deb and she is very kind and thoughtful. This is quickly becoming our annual "up north" vacation spot!

This cabin is adorable! It's the perfect environment for relaxing after a day of exploring, with all the decor and personal touches of a true "cabin in the woods" experience. Even if it rains, you'll enjoy soaking in the serenity of the weather from the sun porch or in front of the cozy fireplace.
The only downfall for our family with a toddler was that it doesn't have a tub, only a shower, so bathtime was difficult.

My family and I had one of the most relaxing vacations. This place is perfect for that getaway you were looking for! The host even went out of her way to make sure we could watch our baseball games as we’re huge baseball fans. The back yard is perfect for grilling breakfast, lunch, & dinner. The fire pit is a huge plus. The cabin itself was comfy and cozy. We will definitely be going back and recommend this place to anyone!

Had a great weekend in the Houghton Lake area. Place was small, but we were using it as a place to mostly sleep so it met all my requirements. Did have an issue with comfort of the full size bed as it was a bit lumpy. Interior was fairly clean and plenty of dishes and cookware to use. Debra was very responsive to any questions I had regarding the property and gave me plenty of helpful tips for the hot days. My only main gripe was the back patio area was very dirty. I was excited to eat outside when we BBQ, but the furniture and patio area was just to dirty. All in all enjoyed are stay.

Was a lovely property only problem was the kitchen. My friend and I are professional bakers who planned a weekend of baking together for our Instagram page. There was only a toaster oven. We brought all our own equipment for baking and cooking for the weekend, stand mixers, bakeware and so forth. We made cookies in the toaster oven but that was the extent of our creative baking weekend. It was still a enjoyable stay oveall.

The Woodlands retreat is adorable. Sherry has thought of everything and the cabin is so cute. The only thing that could have made our stay better was to stay longer...but there's always a next time.

This little cabin is cute as a button! It is exactly as written and pictured in the listing. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and explored the area. Walked down to the “water” although is was February so no water to be found! The walk and the lake were still beautiful!

Place was as pictured! Food, drinks, hiking, lake activities are all close. Perfect for 2 people but might be tight with more as the bathroom is slightly cramped. The place has well water but host provided drinking water. Host was responsive and helpful!

The water has a lot of iron in it. The cabin was very cute. The beds were not very comfortable. It also smelled really musty when we first got there until we opened it up and aired it out. I wouldn’t stay here again for the money I felt it should have been a better stay

Such a cute "up north" feel. The backyard was our favorite, it was perfect. We spent time there relaxing and explored Houghton Lake & Higgins Lake. Location is perfect for going and doing things in the area.
