About this house rental
Situated in Folly Beach, this attractive house for $475 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This exquisite home is private yet close to the beach, with public access right across the street and a lifeguard on duty June, July and August. It is most noted for its spacious front porch with two glass garage doors. This unique feature brings the outside in – the open living/dining/kitchen areas flow seamlessly onto the porch where the sea breeze is an invitation to relax and enjoy family gatherings!! Folly’s restaurants and shops are also within walking distance and you can also explore the beautiful, historic downtown Charleston, which is a short 8 mile drive. This well-appointed house offers accommodation for eight guests with two en-suite queen bedrooms with Travertine walk-in showers, a third full bath with shower/tub, a smaller bunk bedroom, and sleeper sofa in the living room. The fully-equipped kitchen has JennAir and KitchenAid stainless appliances, silestone countertops, and Murano glass lighting. Antique heart-pine floors, 10 ft ceilings with vaulted 15ft ceiling in dining/kitchen area, and the wall of glass garage doors make the house cool, bright, and airy. Electronics in the living room include a 52" HDTV with cable and 60 broadcast channels, Cinemax, sound bar and a DVD player with family movies and a stereo system with MP3 player dock. There is Broadband wireless internet and surround sound. A 32” HDTV is in one bedroom, that also includes cable. The private garden deck has a Summit Weber gas grill, a fully private hot/cold outdoor shower and convenient parking for 4 vehicles. We feel it’s important to point out we are hands-on owners with a local manager. Please feel free to call me between 9am and 6pm if you have any questions, unless it's an emergency! PLEASE NOTE: Our non-smoking and no pet policy is strictly enforced and includes the porch and garden area of the property. The person assuming responsibility for the rental must be at least 22 years old.

This house is a great mix of comfort, style and great location. The owner was on point with communication and genuinely cares about her guests. The place is well-appointed, stylishly decorated and has a nicely landscaped yard. The house has a great nature vibe because you’re up in the canopy with glass garage doors blending seamlessly into a generous-sized, screened gallery. It’s off of the busy front street but easy walks to beach and commercial district. Can’t really beat it…

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sweetgrass Cottage! The living area, bedrooms & kitchen were comfortable & well stocked. It was so helpful to have towels, chairs & wagon available for the beach. The things that make this property really special are the garage doors onto the porch - awesome! - and the location. It's just a few blocks to downtown and the beach. This home was perfect for our Folly Beach vacation!

Our group of three women had a fantastic stay at Val’s place. The house was beautiful and very well appointed. All of us appreciated the comfortable beds. And the porch! Amazing! Val was very helpful and flexible with some travel issues that arose with our group as well. 10/10, would recommend.

Place was very well appointed and clean. We had to listen to the neighbors ac powering off and on all night just feet from our window. Cars were racing down the streets, lots of inebriated jerks around, gun shots or some kind of very big explosion in the middle of the night, loud in music and partying till we'll after 2: 00 am and the the neighbors cranking on the music at about 7: 30 in he morning.Ugh. If you don't mind all of that, it's a great place.

A great property within easy walk to the beach and the center of town. We really enjoyed the large front porch and opening the garage doors to let the ocean breeze in. Four chairs and a wagon are provided to haul your stuff to the beach. Bert’s market is just a couple minutes walk around the corner. Will definitely look to stay here again for our next trip to Folly.

This is one of the nicest properties we have stayed on Folly! 2 blocks away from the center of town, Bert's and the beach, you couldn't ask for a better location on the island. The house is as beautiful as it is in the photos, and the owner was a breeze to communicate with. For a small group, you couldn't do much better than Sweetgrass!

Wonderful Stay!
We loved our stay at this beautiful home!! The location was ideal, not in the busy area of Folly but a close walk to restaurants, bars, and shopping, and beach access was so easy!! There was room for everyone to enjoy each others company, cook dinner, and eat, but also retire to the privacy of their own room and bathroom.
The home was clean and organized. What we loved the most was the attention to the little things. The toilet paper was high quality, every sink had hand soap, salt and pepper were in the pantry.
Val was also such a sweat heart and checked in on us the first night. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Great vacation
Our family spent the week at this property on Folly Island and we were thoroughly pleased. It is a great house with the perfect layout and available beds for our family with young kids. This house and property was in a great location with easy access to the local market store, easy walk to the beach and easy walk to downtown Folly for shopping and eating. Will stay here again in the future.

We absolutely loved this house! Great location. We walked everywhere! The property was beautiful and so well taken care of. They literally had EVERYTHING. I mean everything. Detergent, dish soaps, cleaning supplies, Tupperware, spices, ziplock bags, plenty of hand soaps, qtips, beach towels, too many to list. It was stocked like a hotel. Even staying at expensive houses in Folly I have always had to bring EVERYTHING. I mean they even had white noise machines for the kids! I was so impressed, haha! The owner was great to work with for any questions I had. Prompt and kind responses every time. Rent this house! You’ll love it.

Enjoyable island stay.
This was our first trip to Folly. The house was as described and a real joy to stay in. We loved the big porch to play dominoes and card games. The high ceilings made it seem so spacious. The short walk to the beach was easy but I would recommend renting a golf cart if you have little kids. The provided pull cart was rusted out and barely operable. I forgot to mention that to the host. I’m sure if I did she would have adequately dealt with that. She was very responsive to any emails I sent and just an excellent host. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect location
This listing was absolutely perfectly placed in Folly. Easy walking distance to the beach, downtown area, and Bert's Market, which has many essentials a group would need for their stay. We stayed on the amazing porch almost exclusively while at the house, which was very clean upon check-in. I can't recommend this listing enough!

Gorgeous Property
Sweetgrass cottage is a beautifully decorated home with plenty of space. I loved the homes layout, the variety of bathrooms and amenities included. It was really convenient to have beach equipment and towels provided! The location was great, with just a short walk to the beach and also to the main strip. Val is really easy to work with and I would highly recommend this rental property if your looking for a sophisticated place to stay.

This is a well managed property
Everything about this property worked for our party- adults for almost 2 weeks and then also several small children for a few days. It’s just as shown and immaculate when you arrive. It’s set up to be very pleasant but very easy to keep orderly in a summer beach setting. Comfortable working outdoor shower and towel rack for when you come straight from the beach, every cooking need you might have and plenty of room for eating and every system worked the first time. The porch is a real treat and the roll-up windows a brilliant idea: they make the house bright without direct heat and create a feeling of much more space. Bathrooms were as clean as can be and there weren’t a lot of decorative trinkets that one has to worry about misplacing or breaking. It was a really calm house to spend time in. We used nearby Harris Teeter - a great store on the other side of the river on the way into Folly - for groceries and easily walked back and forth to the beach. The big hit: the perfectly sized puzzles that the 3 year old did over and over and over all by herself.

Family with young kids
We had a wonderful stay at Sweetgrass Cottage! Valerie had the house so well stocked. My kids were so pleased to find coloring books, storybooks and puzzles to play with as well as all the boogie boards and beach chairs available for us to use. We did use the grocery delivery service and had some things delivered before we arrived, which worked out well because many of the restaurants were closed due to Covid. The house is in a great location, close enough to the beach and Center street to walk, but far enough away that it felt quiet and secluded. Any questions we had for Valerie were always answered quickly. We had a wonderful stay at Sweetgrass! I highly recommend Valerie and this house.

Incredible retreat
I wouldn’t wait too long to book this property. It is a clear find - the home is immaculate, fully equipped and in an ideal location. We stayed here with our daughters and friends and it is perfect for six people. It is exactly like the photos and the front porch and garage doors are truly among its best features. Four very small blocks from the beach and they provide a wagon and beach chairs. Best tips we can give you - try to come midweek to avoid the horrendous weekend traffic, and buy your groceries at the Harris Teeter or Publix on James Island before you get to Folly. There’s a small store on island for essentials but not family shopping (great ice cream)! There’s a wine/liquor store within walking distance. Most of the restaurants have long waits, and through COVID, this is especially true, as some are still closed. Plan ahead so you can sit and enjoy this spectacular and special place.
