An easy walk from Shinkansen station. Free coffee in lobby. Very reasonable price. Convenience store less than a block away. Lobby is extremely nice: spacious, comfortable, upscale. Nice place to sit and talk with a friend. (Loved Toyama, by the way! Hope to return.)
Unlike the lobby, the room was very average and dated. (We already expected that from the online pix.) Room light was rather dim as I recall. With one exception, the staff didn't seem very personal or friendly (unlike all of our other hotel experiences in Japan). We speculated that maybe they're instructed to be that way in order to seem more "professional" in light of the business clientele who come to the hotel for meetings.

Great price/quality. Amazing hotel lobby, which is somehow in a strange contrast with the smaller, more basic room. But for that price you really cannot complain.

The hotel has a grand foyer. The rooms are a little dated but that added to the charm.
The breakfast buffet was fantastic, bonus points for having take out cups to take a coffee with you after breakfast.

The bedroom was of a good size and the window can open a bit to let some fresh air enter the bedroom. The staff is very nice and try to make up for the age of the hotel...The lobby is quite spectacular and shows the original high level of the hotel. The best part of this hotel was the very reasonable cost for a one night stay.
The hotel has known better days as it has aged quite a lot since those days. Fittings are old and barely acceptable with the furniture and carpet also showing a lot of usage...Although the window can open slightly, there was an overall stale smell in the bedroom when entering it. Luckily, we could slightly open the window which helped defuse part of that odor. The car parking was also a bit disappointing.
