Rainforest setting

Barking dog on top of landing blocking our access to beach. It said NO Pets? Picture is deceiving, only one of four apartments has this waterfront view.

Great location and accommodation

the location was brilliant. Staff were fabulous. The place needs a bit of maintenance. The T.V down stairs had no reception, some of the lights didn't work. The decking out the front needs a bit of attention. This did not in any way hamper our stay. It is a fabulous place to kick back and relax. Loved the fact that the tide came right up to the steps of the property. Hearing the ocean at night (especially) was sooo soothing.

Bit more maintenance but otherwise everything was great.

Tranquility and Exclusivity in Byron!

An exclusive spot on the beach at Byron, what more could you ask for!? The steam room and sauna were great, the room (we stayed in the Shanti villa) was more than adequate (we didn't spend much time in the villa) it had a fully stocked kitchen and a few modern conveniences such as big screen, google home for music, A/C, nice furniture etc. But it's all about the location and the grounds which are Balinese themed and wonderfully kept. The only villa with a view to the beach is the Samadhi, which has without a doubt the best location and facilites on the property. We will definitely be back!

I understand the reviews suggesting the facilities could do with an update. The hot tub is older and invariably there is sand everywhere but they do a great job of maintaining it within standards and it was very clean when we got there. It's not a cheap nightly rate and for the money you're not getting what I would suggest as 'luxury' but rather tranquility and exclusivity perhaps? We just loved it.

Shambhala is the place to stay if you are visiting Byron Bay!!!

The view of the beach and the access to the beach was spectacular! When we were back at our room, we felt like we were in our own small rainforest! The incense burning outside made for such a tranquil, inviting entrance!

Nothing really! When we needed something we sent a text/email and staff replied in a timely manner! The hot tub outside might need a bit of cleaning, but it was still nice!

Location is insane.

Location was unreal. The views were incredible.

The facilities are getting a little tired. I’d imagine sooner rather than later the retreat will need some renovations.

Blissful, relaxing and lovely.

The location, amenities, staff are excellent. Truly a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. I would recommend Shambhala to anyone!

A relaxing retreat, settled amongst the trees.

Beautiful location in the beach. Cottage nestled amongst the trees.

The stay would have been even nicer if the towels were of higher quality.

Above and Beyond all expectations

The location of this property is just breath taking, it truly is such a unique property with the beautiful Belongil Beach literally at your doorstep. The amenities are amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to assist us during a difficult time with the flooding in the area. The service and facilities are absolutely fantastic.

I cannot fault anything about this property.

Absolute beachfront!

The property offered so many wonderful options. Each day I found a lovely new spot to sit and enjoy the tranquility.

Only negative was that the staircase to the beach was not all the way to the beach.

Restful and relaxing

Tranquil and relaxing resort. Absolute piece of heaven. Very intimate surroundings. We really felt connected to nature.Perfect location in front of the beautiful beach, walking distance to local cafes. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Perfect for couples get away, Honey moon, Baby moon or wedding staycation. We’ll absolutely visit again soon ❤️

Disappointing accommodation with stunning location

I absolutely loved the location. Belongil Beach is stunning any time of the day or night

The cottage is very dated, old and rusty furniture and appliances and totally not what we were expecting. Sand was everywhere on arrival, even in bed. Lovely Staff attempted to fix things up and we expressed our dissatisfaction and distress however owners were reluctant to compensate and offered us to leave with refund ( booking something else last min was proven to be difficult for obvious reasons). Was advertised as 4.5 star’s, but I would call it Misleading advertising.

A lot going for it but they must monitor the type of groups that book there

the position was perfect , staff were fantastic

group of young men arrived and changed the whole peaceful feel . Also invited up to 8 of there mates to use the facilities

Bali feel, close to the beach.

Sauna, steam room and private entrance to the beach.

It is a little run down. Has a distinct “Bali” feel which is lovely, but perhaps not $1000 a night value. Also, for this price, which I would consider “luxury”, it felt a little strange to be asked to put a dishwashing tab in before leaving and clean all crockery. If it was more of a group budget accomodation, that would be absolutely appropriate. Wasn’t sure that it was really “in the middle of the rainforest”, which is what we were hoping for. These thoughts aside, we had a lovely, relaxing stay.
