Lea & Trevor Maldon's authentic streetscapes of High and Main Streets showcase a wide variety of shops: antiques and collectables, galleries. museums and of course food and wine. The Kangaroo Hotel dates back to the sixties - that's 1860s - and the later Maldon Hotel is impressive with its iron lace on its two stories. Walking trails include three comprehensive walks around town, available from Fairbank's wifi, and the Parks Victoria Goldfields trail opposite that winds its way from the Battery, past the Beehive Chimney and the Machinery Museum through town and up to Anzac Hill for that all important photo shoot. The Victorian Goldfield Railway operates on Wednesdays and Sundays, often on Saturdays and for special occasions. There's always something coming up in Maldon, from January's Starlight Dinner in Main Street, the oldest Easter Fair in Australia, the iconic Folk Festival in October, and several themed events as well, such as the Campdraft.
