Still retains the. Harm and character of the old Abbey
Nothing

A truly special place, like nothing you've ever stayed in or will ever stay at. Beautiful, peaceful, tranquil and spiritual. The hosts (owners) made you feel very welcome and often had time for a conversation.
My only moan is that due to how the place was operated, the availability of refreshements throughout the day were extremely limited. Lunch and an evening meal were however available to guests, as a set menu.

I really can't put into words how magnificent my stay here was - its just incredible and unique
Nothing can be measured against it.

What I liked:
• Unique location within an old abbey
• Beautiful cloisters and historical rooms
• Proximity to a natural reserve for nature enthusiasts
• Comfortable beds with finely decorated linen
• Attentive and gracious staff
• Simple but tasty breakfast with freshly prepared cake
What could be improved:
it wasn’t as quiet as I had hoped. was given a Room facing a family with young children despite my specific request
High quote (100 euros) for late checkout - they then admitted it was an error and the fee was indeed…50 euros
Expensive dinner - 40 euros plus 10 euros for a glass of wine - with missing side dish, tiny portions and basic fruit salad as dessert (at least for my specific experience
Hotel management not fully understanding guests’ needs
Got the vibe that management and their family treat the hotel like their own home.

Location, pool and the building itself. Bed is very comfortable. An unique experience staying in the abbey.
It would be great to have a air-con in the room during the summer time.

The abbey was enormous, peaceful and serene. It was set up high with beautiful views over surrounding countryside. We had a guided tour of the buildings which was fascinating. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The swimming pool was lovely and set in a private grassy area. The food was excellent and served at a long table which was very sociable.
Access to the hotel was not for the faint-hearted as the Italian roads are not well maintained

A wonderful historical building formerly a monastery. We had a lovely big old room with a huge bathroom. Very comfortable bed - simple furnishings. Breakfast buffet was enjoyable - all sat along a communal long table - bit of a wait at the coffee machine sometimes. One delightful evening meal. Great guided tour of the building
The local roads were dreadful- not the hotel's fault but made it hard to reach from Catania. Not much else to do nearby and certainly not on Sunday. There was a lot of noise in the long corridor which echoed about the hard surfaces - had to earplug one night when children were running about. Don't eat in on Friday if you don't like seafood. But staff lovely and helpful.

Amazing sense of history. Beautiful architecture, not overly restored. Unique experience.
Dinner was a bit formal at a large table.

There’s a lot to say wonderful stay Marta, Marcela (I think) her son the other lady (two kids 18&15) Giulios (chef) and everyone we got across made our stay memorable.

A very remarkable unique hotel . we arrive at the monastery and was greeted by a lovely young lady and her 2 amazing dogs. she took us on a guided tour of the place which took 20mins it was very interesting to hear the history of the monastery.
the set evening meal was fabulous. breakfast was disappointing, very basic.

I enjoyed every minute, great location, and very lovely staff.

The abbey is extraordinary and is being lovingly restored. We were given a detailed tour by well informed and friendly staff
The satnav route to the abbey is on small uneven roads. Avoid the 108 and take the 35.. it goes directly to the Abbey & is a much better road

This place is amazing! It's like living in a piece of history.
The hallways are huge, but the rooms are well isolated from any noise.
We got a tour of the place upon arrival and it was fascinating to learn about the history of the place.
The bed is super comfortable and the room and bathroom was big.
The pool is a great modern touch in the summer heat!
Breakfast was nice with very fresh and juicy fruit.
Nothing!

Loved that it was in the mountains, away from everything and everyone! Loved the Abbey and the vibe of its age and history! Rooms were comfortable! A little warm, but if you asked for a fan the staff was accommodating!! great pool! Beautiful grounds! Breakfast was so wonderful, Simone (sp) was very patient with us!! Marta gave us a great tour and helped get a last minute wine tasting reservations! The Abbey is perfect for weddings! I honestly cant say enough about it. LOVED EVERYTHING!!! Photos don't do it justice!! If my phone didn't land in the med with me i would have photos to share!!!
That we didn't stay longer!
Also, google takes you through a farmers home! DON'T GO THAT WAY!! There are signs to the abby kn the road, They were a light green and a bit faded, but once we looked up from google maps, we found it.

Highlight of our stay in sicily! As you drive up, you get a real sense of scale of the site and it's really quite something. There aren't many signs to the main hotel (it's shared with the church, but just turn right as you come through the gates and up through a small road) We were warmly greeted by Marta who even gave us a tour of the amazing building (its truly incredible!). She was a really lovely host and informative and helped us feel at home.
Our room was large, clean and had a good bathroom, it was well worth the little extra we paid.
The breakfast was lovely, but if you can have the dinner do! The chef was excellent. We had a brilliant 2 nights of meals (4 set courses) and they catered to my tomato allergy (and pregnancy!) very well which i was very appreciative of. He took time and effort to explain each dish including the origin, what is in it and it was all really delightful. Left feeling VERY full! It's at extra cost to your room, but we felt it was well worth it.
The swimming pool was a real treat and you look back on to the monastery- the time of year we visited there was only a few guests so it felt like we had the place to ourselves.
There are opportunities for tours and hikes from the property - so do consider this when booking to make the most of the lovely surroundings.
All in all, an incredibly special place to stay.

Unique and memorable experience within a great setting, spacious and comfy rooms, kind and helpful staff. Thank you Marta!
Breakfast and dinner were disappointing - particularly when compared with much lower priced accommodation. Limited choice for breakfast and only basic courses for dinner.

The location is absolutely special and unique, a real gem in Sicily. The staff is wonderful and happy to tour around the premises. The shared living room was a real standout for comfort and style. Breakfast was delicious.
Arrival could be made more easy by more signage.

Out of this world - literally!
I have never had an experience that is comparable to staying in the abbey.
It is set deep in rural Sicily. It is a world away from the world.
Our room enormous with high vaulted ceilings. The bathroom was similarly enormous.
The bed was comfortable. Everything was clean
We were given a warm greeting and a tour of the abbey from Roberta
Service was friendly
Breakfast included locally produced milk and yogurt
We ate evening meal at the abbey both nights. Food was homely
The abbey is part privately owned and part church owned. There’s a lack of signage so our first twenty minutes were spent wandering round a cloister full of youngsters, nuns and a priest. It was a joyful experience but we were somewhat confused as to where we were supposed to check in.
For the price of the stay, facilities to make a hot drink or store a cold drink would be appreciated.
Part of the charm of the abbey is that it is faded, gentle and old. In places it seems a little run down, for example the swimming pool is modern and well maintained but the path down to it is rugged. Some may think the garden in need of a bit of tender, loving, care others will love the lack of structure.

The scenery was beautiful, the old abbey was impressive and the pool was nice.
If you don’t want to feel welcome, this is the place to go. Expect a 3 course meal to be done in 30 minutes, as staff wants to leave early. Even before finishing our meal, the staff already started making up the plates for breakfast. We spent the entire day at the poolside (which is nice), and would have expected some staff to ask if we would be needing anything (water, snacks, etc), since there is nothing available up on the room. By the end of the day we decided to ask for some snack and were presented with a 30€ bill for a few slices of cheese and bread. Staff didn’t care whatsoever about us nor our stay. Absolutely biggest disappointment of our trip. The place itself is a rough diamond - but we strongly advice to replace the ignorant staff.

- dodgy roads to get there

This place is magic and absolutely worth all tje bumpy streets to get there. We had two wonderful nights in this beautiful and relaxing place. The staff was very nice, the food was great.
A fridge somewhere either in the room or in the dining room would be nice.

The breakfast was disappointing. We expected local fruits, breads, fresh juices etc.

The Abbey is a very special place. To be a guest and sleep in a monks room which is many hundred years old is an exclusive experience as well as the dinner together with the owners family. Giulgio is very kind and gave us an very interesting guided visit of the abbey included in the rooms price. Lovers of historic places and old stones will be delighted. Price quality relation for what you get is perfect.
Our bathroom was quiet big, but you have to shower in the bathtub, which is a bit uncomfortable and also easy to slip.
Breakfast is more or less traditional Italian with coffee or tea, some toasted bread from the day before with marmelade and homemade cake. Don't expect a huge breakfast buffet.
