We stayed at Hotel Kasbah Asmaa for one night and had a rather mixed, but overall positive experience.
After reading some reviews mentioning that the hotel is old and that there can be problems with the bathrooms, we knew what to expect. And yes, some of these comments are justified. The hotel is definitely dated, the corridors smell of cigarette smoke, and the carpets throughout the property have probably absorbed quite a lot of it over the years.
However, the first impression is actually very nice. The entrance is beautiful, there is a lovely garden with palm trees, and the hotel has a swimming pool (although it was too cold to use it during our stay in late October). Our room also had a beautiful view of the mountains.
The bathrooms are old, but our shower worked reasonably well, with good water pressure and hot water. The shower itself definitely needs some maintenance, as water was spraying in different directions. We had three rooms in total, though, and the experience was not the same in all of them: one room had poor water pressure and only cold water.
There were also some strange electrical issues. Our room even had a refrigerator, but in two other rooms there were refrigerators without accessible power outlets. In one of those rooms, there was actually nowhere to charge mobile phones.
Now, for the best and most unexpected part: the food!
We wanted to leave early in the morning, and discovered that breakfast actually starts earlier than the officially advertised time. The breakfast was fantastic, with a huge variety of food, fresh fruit, traditional soup, grilled meat and plenty of local dishes. Everything was delicious and there was much more choice than we expected.
For dinner, there are two options: a buffet or ordering à la carte. Having read some less positive reviews about the buffet, we decided to order from the menu instead. That was an excellent decision! We had fish, chicken skewers and a delicious tagine with prunes. Everything was really
