Our plan was to experience typical Japanese onsen and dinner, which was fulfilled. Food was very traditional with several courses. If you are see creature food lover, strongly advice. Breakfast also very, Japanese an also more traditional option available. Japanese spa was great with all needed - hot spring / cold water / sauna + traditional space to clean yourself before entering the water. Accommodation was minimalistic in local style, however futons very very comfortable. Onsen is located in the mountains roughly 40km from Aomori. Next day we did a nice hike to the lake Towada.
Onsen probably needs a bit of refurbishment to come in next years. If you want to do some activity around hotel, basically not much to do, as it is located basically in the woods. Most of the people are coming to the spa or use the hotel as basis for nearby hikes.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients. I especially enjoyed the natto served with rice, which added an authentic Japanese touch. There were also plenty of Western breakfast options available, though I mainly chose the fresh fruits. The apples were particularly delicious. Overall, it was a very enjoyable breakfast experience.
One aspect that I found challenging was the lack of elevators in the hotel. The property consists of three levels, including a lower ground floor and a second floor, and our room was located on the second floor. As I have knee issues and my travel companion uses a walking stick, climbing multiple flights of stairs was not particularly convenient. In addition, our husbands had to carry several large suitcases up to our rooms, making multiple trips due to the amount of luggage we had.
I appreciate that the hotel aims to preserve the charm and traditional atmosphere of a Japanese onsen ryokan. However, I believe a lift or luggage elevator would greatly improve accessibility and convenience for guests with mobility concerns, while still maintaining the hotel's unique character.
