Communicating with the host was very easy over WhatsApp. She was responsive to all our questions and gave us some good recommendations for local activities that were going on. We also appreciated meeting her in person. Being located near the Pile Gate is a definite plus. The bottle of wine was a very nice touch.
Well, we visited in October and Dubrovnik is still expensive. This shouldn't surprise anyone since tourism is the main driver of the economy here. We also visited Venice on our trip and felt that Dubrovnik was every bit as expensive if not more so. Both are beautiful cities, though. The airport is a ways away so if you have an early morning flight like we did, you will need to pre-schedule an Uber.
