About this house rental
Located in Mount Kisco, this charming house for $449 per night is a great option for your next trip. "The house is very bright, sun-lit, private, extremely safe and secure. Although situated on a very quiet, low density street you can still walk to Mount Kisco town/train/restaurants/shopping in about ten minutes. The house is filled with contemporary and modern art and books to nourish your soul and mind. Set directly across the street from a spacious, open, green, property, this immaculately updated home is located in the desirable Captain Merritts Hill section of Mount Kisco. Set at the end of a cul-de-sac, this is one of the rare properties in Westchester County that has very low density yet allows you to walk to town in just a few minutes. Easy walk to restaurants and shopping, and Mount Kisco Metro North Harlem line. There is a bus stop at the end of the street, on Main Street (Route 133). There is parking for up to four cars in the driveway. The back yard is very private and landscaped with stone walls, specimen trees and garden plantings. To ensure your safety there is a video doorbell and a motion-activated video floodlight illuminating the driveway/ The fully-stocked chef’s kitchen comes with every available kitchen appliances, cooking tools, china and service. Toiletries, towels and linens are provided in the bathrooms. Flat screen SMART televisions are in the family room, den and gym. The house has T1 Internet and cable. Weekly maid service is available for longer stays. The base price is for up to six guests, and additional guests are $25.00 USD/night. The gourmet EIK has a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Dacor dual fuel range, Bosch dishwasher, under counter lighting & granite counter tops. There are comfortable Charleston Forge chairs to sit on while enjoying your morning coffee, or you can have your coffee on the spacious blue-stone patio. The large family room is filled with light, contemporary art, author-selected books, and games. The family room has Natuzzi furniture, a huge SMART TV and a furniture-grade foosball table. There are oversized sliding doors leading to an expansive stone patio with specimen trees. One of the couches pulls-out to a Queen bed. The dining room is filled with natural light, and has a sitting area that can also accommodate overflow guests on a huge Queen air mattress, which is surprisingly sturdy and comfortable. The main floor has a bedroom with a Queen bed, SMART TV as well as a couch that pulls-out to a Full bed. Next to this room is a full bathroom. This no-step bedroom/bathroom set-up is perfect for guests who cannot climb stairs. There are two bedrooms upstairs: One with a Queen bed and - good for families with a small child - an additional Twin. There is also a Pack ‘n Play crib available. The second bedroom has two Twins (they can be moved together to create a King). There is a full bathroom on the second floor. There is Oak hardwood flooring throughout. A whole-house speaker system, including speakers on the patio. The house is a wireless smart-home and enabled for security with great HVAC and Verizon T1 high speed internet. The lower level has room for an air mattress (so, actually the house can expand to fifteen people, but it will be very crowded. This space is really for overflow, and is less appointed than the other rooms since it is on a concrete slab. The back yard is perfect for weddings, large family gatherings, parties, events or get-togethers with friends, for up to 125 people with a modest additional per/person charge for guests not staying in the house. Close to the house are lots of parks and - within walking distance - the great restaurants of Mount Kisco and the Metro North Harlem Line. The basement is equipped with a full gym. Foosball in the living room. Ping pong is available.”

Beautiful home in a lovely neighborhood. We were here to celebrate a wedding and really enjoyed the common areas. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining table was large enough to gather around. Our host was easy to contact and helpful. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star rating was the comfort of the beds. The queen bed upstairs was comfortable, but the other beds were not. I think the addition of memory foam and mattress pads could solve the problem. The futon in the basement was not a good option for us because the weather was so hot that weekend that it was pretty musty. Other than the beds, it was a perfect place to stay and gather together.

Overall my family of 6 enjoyed the house and its nice location for the three nights we stayed over Labor Day. We walked to town and explored some of the lovely streets nearby. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet.
I would give this home a 5 star review were it not for the downstairs bedroom (basement) not being at all what we were expecting. Everyone in my group agreed the basement bedroom was not habitable despite its description as having the “most comfortable bed (futon) in the house.” (I do believe the owner has since addressed this.) Luckily our teenager, whom I had planned to put in that room, was amenable to the pullout sofa in the living room. However, this did take away the main hang out areas for the rest of us.
The foosball table was lots of fun, and we enjoyed the collection of games after dinner. It was a good weekend overall and the quaint town of Mt Kisco is worth a visit if you’ve never been to the area.

We booked this house as it was conveniently located in Mount Kisco and large enough to accommodate family visiting from England to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. The home exceeded our expectations. Everyone enjoyed their stay.

Jim was very accommodating when our flight got canceled. A wonderful home that is very conveniently located. Great for a big family, plenty of space. Thank you!

I booked this property for my family to stay for a wedding they were attending as well as visiting family members over a week. They stated that it is a beautiful property and very comfortable and that the host was quick to respond to any questions they had. It was a very enjoyable experience.

My family stayed in the property during my son's graduation weekend.
The house is beautiful and the exterior property was perfect for our outdoor gathering. The kitchen is great for cooking and there's plenty of space for a large family to eat and relax in the kitchen, dining room and living room.
The bedrooms are quiet and there are enough beds to accommodate a large family comfortably.
The rear yard is pretty and well maintained. There's plenty of quiet space for everyone to spend time together and relax outdoors.
The owner is great. His attention to detail and his availability for questions and explanations of the house systems (security system, outdoor electrical outlets, etc.) made our stay simple and easy.
The house is located close to restaurants and stores and it's about a 7 minute drive to the train station in case you want to travel into NYC.
I highly recommend this house.

we are a family of 6 and the setup in the house worked for 3 adults and 3 children. There are lots of board games, an outside area, and a full laundry.
Everything we needed for 5 days stay was there

Wonderful and cozy location in an absolutely quaint town. Was very accommodating to our entire family. Wish we could’ve enjoyed the beautiful backyard during our stay; the smell of the flowers from the garden was absolutely delightful. The host was articulate and responsive in communicating everything needed. Would highly recommend this hidden gem!

We had a wonderful stay at the house. The house was large and incredibly clean and well-maintained. There was enough room for all to sleep comfortably and even have a fair amount of privacy. The neighborhood is very safe and quiet and walkable to shopping and restaurants in downtown Mt. Kisco. The house is also very close to the train station and local thruways. All in all, a wonderful place to stay!
3.0
We enjoyed our stay at this clean private home.
There were several minor things that could be improved to up the rating - toiletries, trash bags and lighting in the bedrooms
The proprietor was clearly striving to make our stay successful and pleasant - however, the sheer number of instructions and prohibitions coupled with a call at 815 in the morning to check in took away from our enjoyment. Rather than feeling like a relaxed vacation, the vibe was anxious.

Although Vrbo had a hiccup in their system during scheduling, the home owner stepped up and spent time helping me and Vrbo get the reservation corrected. The homeowner was outstanding. The home worked perfectly for our use. We had plenty of beds for our party of 9. Since we came in for a funeral, the large table/eating area and large gathering area (living room) helped us tremendously to stay close as a family before and after all the services. If I could give Jim a 10 star rating, I would. If more people in the world were as caring and helpful as this home owner, this world would be a better place. Thank you....thank you !

My sister and I rented the Mt Kisco house for our families to gather at Christmas near our mother who just moved into a nursing home nearby. The house was very convenient to airport, highways, and town (it was also a bonus to be off the I- 95 corridor) James was very communicative and accommodating. He provided a very detailed list of check-in instructions and house rules. We had a great stay. Two points to note: the downstairs “bedroom” was a mattress on a concrete floor over a drain — no one wanted to sleep there. Second, the rules, restrictive notes around the house and abundant surveillance was a bit off-putting; it was not really “warm and welcoming.” It felt like we were teens staying at someone’s parents house rather than guests paying $700/night. That said, the house was well-equipped, roomy, and in a lovely setting. We enjoyed ourselves.

Very clean property, great location and easy to communicate with Jim. Thank you again, we will be back!

We stayed at this house last year and had such a good time we came back this year. We were able to celebrate an early Christmas with family and friends. The two large living areas were perfect and we even bought a pop up Christmas tree that added to the holiday spirit. We grilled and enjoyed sitting around the outdoor fire pit. The house is close to town so easy access to restaurants and stores. I highly recommend this house.

Our family had a great time in James's house. It is quiet, well-kept and a perfect place for a family retreat. James was super communicative and responsive and we highly recommend for a large group looking to settle into a home for a reunion!

House is very spacious and roomy. Host is very communicative and will answer almost right away. He was nice to leave a couple of suggestions of his favorites spots in town. Town is about 5 minute drive which is very convenient. Would def recommend.

The home was lovely and very accommodating to our family. We especially enjoyed the well appointed kitchen as we ate most of our meals at the house. We enjoyed having a meal on the lovely terrace too. The owner was very responsive to any needs that came up.

We were looking for a quiet and comfortable space for family near our daughter's wedding venue, and this charming property exceeded our expectations in every way. The house is lovely -- we especially liked the spacious kitchen and relaxing family room with its library and big-screen TV -- and we loved the idyllic backyard with its privacy and secluded patio. The house is well-maintained and host was kind and responsive. It was a wonderful experience all around.

This is a lovely home to spend time with family. The house is equipped with everything and more, it lacks nothing!
The town has much to offer and the train station is a 2 minute drive which was so convenient when making multiple pickups.
The home owner was very helpful from arrival to departure and extremely available if needed. I would certainly rent this home again if the opportunity presented itself.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jim's property. I am a wedding planner and had a wedding in the local area that we needed to be onsite for, so this home was very convenient for me and my team to stay. I was even able to bring my dog, who was more comfortable staying at the home with me- the neighborhood is very dog friendly.
When we weren't onsite at the wedding, we needed a spot to relax, recharge, and get some backend work done. The Wi-Fi was super fast, even when all three of us were utilizing it for various things (zoom meetings, emails, spreadsheets etc.) and the home had everything we needed!
Jim was also very responsive and helpful throughout the stay! His instructions were very clear, thorough, and easy to follow.
I would recommend this property to anyone!

Jim was a great host - the property was immaculate and well situated in a private setting just outside downtown Mt Kisco. We were able to accommodate a family gathering of 20 or so people in the great patio/backyard area. We look forward to returning when we travel to NY in the future.

James was a communicative host, offering not only extensive house instructions but also recommendations for enjoying the area. The house is exactly as advertised, and I’d recommend it for a larger group during the summer months, which is when we stayed.

Here is the major kicker - He hid a $693 "early arrival fee" because I had changed my check in day (almost a year prior) to come a day earlier - but he also charged me for that day rent as well AND HE NEVER told me about the charge!!! He simply confirmed my date change back then and a week before we arrived he slid the fee into the "Host fees" drop down. Yes I said $693!!! He NEVER discussed this with us.
If you'd like to hear the rest of my disappointments feel free to keep reading! Here are the facts:
1. I never received house access and he blamed me for not downloading it when in reality "nothing was listed" for check in information.
2. Once in, the alarm was blaring and I was never told there was one, and he had to remotely deactivate - again - he blamed me.
3. The house smelled extremely musty!
4. The pans were all ruined
5. The beds were all very hard and the 4th bedroom was in the basement which was not a furnished room.
6. He asked us to strip the beds and put all dirty laundry in the basement when we paid a cleaning fee for that and asked us to please tip the cleaning lady because she was down on her luck. recommended $3-4 per day per person. Math adds $100-120 more...
7. The back yard was lovely... But considering this house is listed to sleep 14 ppl, he should have had more than 6 chairs on the patio.
8. We had to hunt down additional supplies such as toilet paper and bath towels.
9. Bedside lamps did not work
10. No regular channel TV - just streaming so we had no access to NBC CBS etc...

We needed a place for our family to attend a funeral. The advantage of having the town so close made it easy to buy food and we enjoyed eating outside when the weather was nice. Plenty of seating for the family to get together in the living room too.

Great house for a group of friends to relax and hang out. Outdoor patio and fire pit a plus!!

Artfilled home that needs attention
Home is lovely. Absentee owner is responsive, reachable, and courteous. Basic supplies of dish soap, shower soap, toilet paper, laundry supplies were missing or inadequate. Dirty bathroom rugs, and clothes dryer left full of previous
visitors bedding greeted us. Had to search for towels as bathrooms were not supplied for visitors. Found extras in laundry room. Gouged non-stick cookware was unsafe to use.
Owner was informed of issues and supplied with photos.
