Love the ryokan concept and the hospitality was great
The view of the mountains is so soothing
And there were bicycles for rent, a good way of seeing Yufu in the mornings and a quick ride to Lake Kinrin
The futons cld be made more comfortable

There were cat employees working tirelessly (e.x., sleeping, stretching, knocking over partitions) along with the human employees! I liked how old-fashioned the ryokan was. The gendered onsens were also clean (and you could book a time slot where you could use the onsen privately). The room had a good view of the mountains around yufuin as well as the village, and the futons were really comfortable!
There was no lift!

Great location, train station and bus station nearby. Aeon and Daiso and a wonderful sushi place at a few minutes walk. Marvelous onsen, with two temperatures. The communal space was great too, the cats were cute. Windows could open and there was an insect screen in the window. Great views all around. Possibility for smoking outdoors under a small roof. Staff were very friendly
The futon were quite hard (but we had ultralight air mattresses with us, so not a problem)

Private onsen
Price is too high compared to the service and place.
It’s like a medium low hotel but with price of 4 stars.
Few rooms but the service is poor like a cheap mass hotel
