Perfectly located within walking distance to the Avalon Beach Kitty Hawk Boat Access, where you can slip your boat, kayak, paddleboard, or jet ski in the water for fun on the sound. Or you can head up the street, less than a mile, to the Avalon Fishing Pier for some pier fishing. After playing in the water, on the beach or sound, you can return to Sounds Like Fun for a fresh grilled catch of the day. There are so many activities, sightseeing, dining, and shopping within easy access from the house. This is a charming beach home with plenty of room for the whole family! The cottage was wonderful and the location was even better. The cottage was a little dirty upon arrival. The bath mats were full of hair and dirt and the counters were sticky. There was also no batteries in the remotes upstairs in the master. The Wifi was basically nonexistent and we had to go to Starbucks to send emails. The cable wasn't accessible due to the instability of the connection. Overall, we fell in love with the area and the home was great!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit was in a very convenient location but lacked good outdoor space to gather. The AC unit had also stopped working and window units were in place. One of the bedrooms did not have an AC unit and the room stayed very warm. One of our group slept on the couch due to the heat in the room. Overall very suitable and nice neighborhood with good sound access.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed our time at 2041 Bay dr. We will miss the sound views and having the multi use path right outside the front door. We had no issues with the home during our extended stay, everything was clean and functioned as advertised.

Reviewer Comments: Picture of the cottage outside and inside on the website does not depict what the cottage actually looks like. The online shows a bright cheerful place when it is the exact opposite. Tree in the front is overgrown to where you can not view the sound from the porch. The keyless entry was on the side door into the garage-no outside light worked-and you had to walk to the front door to let others in the house each time. Entry of the home was very dark, overhead lighting did not work, ceiling fan in den did not work, ants and small roaches in the kitchen. I had to buy spray. The floor in the den/kitchen/dining area was very dirty and I had to clean upstairs and downstairs. No mop or bucket-I mopped the floors on my hands and knees. Filter on the freezer was expired. Dog hair on the bottom of the bar stools. The AC was not working in the home-only registering 79-80. Major water leak in the garage leaking from the downstairs bathroom onto the hot water heater right beside the electrical panel. Carolina Shores brought in 3 window units and during the day the temp in the home was 77-78 and during the night was 74-75. The home was hot and miserable. We were thankful for the window units but it was not enough to cool the home. Wifi was not working and there was not cable TV. I called to inform Carolina Shores of all of the issues. I saw an email where the owner was giving me 10% refund---I deserve much more. I have only 1 vacation a year and this was it!

we were pleasantly surprised by the location to everything! Beach, gas, food and supplies.. House was adequately supplied with beach gear allowing us to travel lightly.... outside shower was awesome!! two decks allowed for some early morning sitting and sunset watching in the evening... beds weren't the softest but we didn't come to sleep our week away... this home has plenty of space for a family of four and could most likely comfortably handle a larger crowd! Thank you!!!

The property was not clean. Living room was incredibly small. We had ants and the AC was broken. Television remotes on line stations were impossible. We had a very nice time despite this rental! Don’t rent this property!

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: While we enjoyed our week overall, and the house met our needs, this house could really use some attention and TLC. As well, the lack of any instructions at all on the WiFi (which was incredibly slow, and needs a speed boost!), and the TV/sound bar systems was very frustrating. We told the realty company and they said the owner would put one together. While that’s good, it didn’t help us. The areas around the house were a mess. The fenced backyard was completely unusable and filled with piles of leaves and debris, and a tree that desperately needs pruning, as does the front yard tree. If some yardwork and clean up were done, it would be a huge improvement. We liked the neighborhood with the pathway along the sound, but encountered some very renter unfriendly (and verbally hostile about their dislike of renters) neighbors. It was shocking and upsetting, and made us feel very unwelcome, even though we were very polite, respectful and quiet (my 86 year old mother was us, so we were a very quiet group.) The house was well stocked, and beds and furniture were comfortable. The second floor porch was nice, but the wooden furniture out there needs to be either weather treated/coated or painted, as it is so rough and worn, you can’t sit on it due to risk of splinters. So overall, the house met our needs, but could have been so much better if the owner invested a little effort and money to improve the house, yard, and other important details that make a huge difference in the overall experience.

A working getaway

Working remotely can truly be anywhere when you have internet. We enjoyed a little working break at Sounds Like Fun. The kitchen was well equipped and the upstairs was bright and airy with partial water views from the deck. Great location for walking along the path across the street and morning walks to see the sunrise on the eastern side of the outer banks.

The house was better than we expected from the pictures and the very limited reviews at the time we booked it. A couple small complaints: The water pressure isn’t great, and the showers didn’t drain very well; the cleaning crew did a fine job, but the place wasn’t what you’d call spotless when we arrived; the beds are very firm. Otherwise, the house is in a great, quiet location on the bay side. It has everything you’d need for a week away. And the internet worked perfectly for us to be able to work from there during our stay. We’d definitely stay there again!

No hot water

The property location was good. Sound side very close to the public boat ramp and access to the water. Wifi info was not listed anywhere so it took 4 phone calls and a day to figure it out. There was no hot water Wednesday. We called Thursday and they sent someone to fix it. We still did not have hot water Thursday I called them back they said it was fixed and to wait for it to warm up. Never did. Friday they sent someone again to fix it. By the time we had hot water again it was Friday afternoon and we did not need it anymore. The management company acted like we where inconveniencing them to get it fixed. No apology or care about having my family take cold shower half the time we where there. I gave this stay 1 star. If the hot water heater worked it would have gotten 3.
