About this house rental

Situated in Bahía Ballena, this lovely house for $185 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Nido Marina (Coastal Nest) Casita ***NEW MASTER SUITE*** Nido Marina Casita is an upscale casita located in the hills above Dominicalito and located in a small, gated community. The casita was completed at the beginning of 2017 and just completed a new Master Suite addition in June of 2022. Nido Marina Casita is now available as the perfect retreat for couples or family who want a relaxing vacation home with year-round sunsets and a Pacific Ocean view reaching from Punta Dominical all the way to Manual Antonio. This is a magical place where the rainforest meets the ocean and provides amazing views in all directions. Only 5 minutes from the main highway, Nido Marina is away from the traffic, high enough to receive lovely breezes and take advantage of sweeping views. Nido Marina offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a spacious open living area and kitchen. The features include ocean views from the master bedroom and jungle/garden views from the second bedroom, local hardwood cabinets and doors, dramatic vaulted pine ceilings, large windows and sliding doors with screens to enjoy the ocean breezes, and stone surfaced terraces and walkways. The covered terrace with comfortable seating and dining area is the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening cocktails, and is adjacent to the infinity edge pool and gas grill. There are 2 pool lounge chairs with cushions so you can enjoy a comfortable afternoon by the pool. The front courtyard also offers a shady spot to enjoy the sounds of the jungle and garden views. After having a restful nights sleep in the king size bed in the newly constructed Master Suite the sun will rise each morning at 5:30 am and the jungle will greet you with sounds of chirping birds and howler monkeys. The Blue Morpho butterfly is a common site seen floating through the garden and around the pool. The toucans fly by frequently and often land in the trees nearby to feast on the many fruits on offer. During the day you can take a short hike around the property and have the chance to see the white face capuchin monkeys, an array of gorgeous birds, and perhaps even a sloth. As the day winds down it is nice to sit on the porch and enjoy a beverage or grill dinner and watch the boats come in to Dominicalito Bay after a day of fishing as the sun sets behind them. The newly constructed Master Suite is large and spacious and includes a king size bed with Serta Mattress, large master bath with outdoor shower, and private deck/balcony. The second bedroom also has a king size bed and has a great ocean view. The third bedroom has two twin size beds and is great for children sharing a room. All of the beds have quality linens and pillows, air conditioning, and a small desk area. The shared bathroom features a walk in shower. A washer/dryer is provided for your convenience, as well as all linens, including pool towels. Should you choose to stay in and cook, the kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances has all of the essential items one may need. Additionally, a gas grill poolside is perfect for an afternoon grill out. For those who want to stay connected, we have high speed Internet, and Smart TV's that connect to Netflix for entertainment. “The Nest” is inviting and comfortable and you may find it difficult to leave, however there is much to explore in the area. We have a pristine coastline that is spoiled with many beautiful beaches and ocean activities as well as the lush mountains that offer incredible adventures and wildlife. Some of the activities that are available are: surfing lessons, fishing, zip-lines, horseback rides on the beach or through the jungle to a waterfall, whale watching, guided mangrove river tours, nature preserves, yoga classes, massages and more. Adam, the property manager, is at your service to assist you with setting up the best excursions (he will also help with car rental and/or transport from the airport in San Jose). Please note: the roads are well maintained, however a 4WD vehicle is necessary for your stay at Nido Marina, and is recommended for any travel throughout Costa Rica. For dining, there are many great restaurants in the area. 10 minutes away in Dominical you can enjoy unique restaurants and coffee shops with food options that range from local specialties, fresh fish and natural and gluten free health foods to Asian cuisine. In Uvita, which is 15 minutes away, you will find excellent dining options including mouth watering BBQ, pizza and milkshakes. If you would like an intimate dining experience with excellent food and customer service then Exotica in Ojochal is an excellent choice. The owners, Lucy and her husband are the most gracious hosts you will ever meet and have been serving incredible food for over 20 years. Be sure to save room for dessert! For a fun experience without leaving the mountain, there is Bar Jolly Roger, 5 minutes from the casita. The menu consists of chicken wings and burgers, and frequently have live music and is also one of the best places to watch a sports match. As mentioned earlier, Nido Marina has a nearby property and rental managers. Adam and Miguel are the managers for the casita and can help you should you need assistance during your stay. Adam hails from Texas, but has lived in Costa Rica for 10 years and has a wealth of knowledge. Miguel is tico and has many local contacts and has lived in the area all of his life. They can assist with rental cars, excursions, reservations, etc. We look forward to your time at the Nido Marina Casita and are committed to ensure your stay is amazing and full of unforgettable memories. Pura Vida :)

Beautiful home and well maintained lush grounds with colorful shrubs, bushes, and tropical flowers. Views are amazing. We had 4 adults, and 4 children ages 5, 4, and twin 2 1/2 year olds, and plenty of room for everyone. We were in the pool every single day, and saw various birds, wildlife, and a couple of monkeys in the trees with binoculars provided in the house. 4 x 4 with ample clearance to the road is required without question. We had to switch our 4 wheel drive for one that had more clearance because the first one drug on the gravel road. The drive in and out is a challenge so be prepared, but consider it part of the experience. A monkey and a huge snake crossed in front of us on the drive down one day. The pictures are accurate and property is truly beautiful. Electricity on the mountain flickered but only really went out 1 time that lasted 2 hours. Internet works mostly but it did go out one evening but was repaired quickly the next morning. Adam was very responsive and helpful. Oscar the grounds keeper is very sweet and is around keeping things beautiful but is very stealth and we rarely saw him.

Blue house, as our family called it. We had so much fun, what a location, ocean, mountain and jungle view all in one!! House had all the amenities one would need on vacation. You can cook food or grill outside by the pool. The pool is quite deep and feels larger then the pictures suggest. The house overall feels very spacious and airy. The view is incredible! We didn’t see any monkeys but we heard them, and spotted several birds. The drive up the mountain was overwhelming the first time as it was pouring down and we had a small Suzuki Vitara, but after that first time we quite enjoyed trekking up and down several times a day. Close to restaurants, groceries, beaches and everything else one might need. There is waterfall with a swimming pool on the way up as well. Worth the stop. Adam was super accessible and helpful with our many questions. We would love to come back!

The House is beautiful and faces the Pacific on one side and the jungle on the other. Gorgeous landscaping and gardens extremely well maintained by a sweet gardener named Oscar! (We share a love for gardening so I was delighted to meet him). The pool is very clean and refreshing after a hot day out and about. The Grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed it. The kitchen is gas so if power is out you can still cook - which is great! And there is a very nice outside grill area which is covered as well! You truly must have a 4x4 vehicle to drive up and down the mountainous region. Be sure to arrive before dark to acclimate to the hills and area. If you've never driven a 4x4 up a mountain, it can be daunting but it only takes a couple of times to get acclimated to it! We were here in July, which is the rainy season, so there were power outages every day. (Be prepared for this as it gets hot). We had an issue the first day with our rented vehicle and the property manager and his assistant were spectacular in helping us get it resolved quickly and easily. (Kudos to the Uvita Adobe car rental folks)! There are several stores in the neighborhood at the bottom of the mountain and they have fresh food and nearly anything you need in a pinch! There is a great swimming area by a waterfall down the mountain as well! Kids loved the rope swing! Overall - great location! Thank you Adam and Miguel!

Beautiful house with stunning outdoor views of jungle and ocean, unforgettable sunsets and starlit skies. New suite is comfortable, but small room with two beds is too small for teenagers + suitcases. A/C only in rooms. Location feels isolated and remote. You will see no one (maybe one or two cars a day). You will definitely have to muster up courage for the drive to the house. Get a Luxury 4x4 from Alamo. Because of the road and the remote location, we found ourselves avoiding any activities that had us out at night or when it looked like it would rain. Restaurants and stores are in Uvita, a 15-20min drive away. I wish we had stayed in Uvita, closer to everything we needed, not to mention, people! It would have been nice for the house to have supplies (candles, battery-powered lights, working flashlights) for frequent power outages. No electricity means no Wi-Fi (communication via WhatsApp), TV, or A/C. We had a 16hr outage. Even in good weather, the Internet is unreliable, hindering work and communication. My husband had to go find a co-working space in Uvita. Rinse your dishes before using them because geckos are not just high up near the ceiling. House managers are helpful, but they could have put some more thought into the guest experience. For example, hooks for wet items (towels, bathing suits) better lighting (lamps) in the bedroom, and more comfortable seating to watch TV together. Overall, enjoyable stay. I hope this review helps you manage your expectations.

We were super excited about staying here - the photos look gorgeous. Unfortunately I have to say this property did not live up to the hype. It bills itself as a luxury property and while many things are there are some things that are in need of updating - they have replaced the couch with something that is neither attractive or comfortable. The bedrooms have ac units, but the common areas do not. The shower in the master got luke warm at best and doesn't have a shower door - what a waste of what should have been an amazing shower experience. Every dish we used had to be washed - everything in the cabinets was dirty and the knives were a joke. The blender had black looking stuff inside - maybe coffee grounds from someone grinding coffee in it. The cups had bugs in them and the plates had food residue. The view is amazing from almost every room which somewhat makes up for it, but the pool has tiles missing, bugs floating and on the bottom too - even right after we checked in. I have never stayed at another property billed as luxury and had so many issues with cleanliness.

We loved the house and all the amenities but spent most of our time taking in the magnificent view. Access is easy with 4 wheel drive and the spot is convenient for food and sightseeing.
