Location in Tenmonkan is perfect. It gives you access to all the nearby restaurants, bars, and attractions.
The bathroom is quite small. I'm not a tall guy by any stretch, but I had to open the door just to fit my knees when I was on the toilet.

The location is central in Kagoshima - as the name suggests - and this is roughly halfway between both of Kagoshima's train stations; I liked that coffee and tea sachets (as well as other amenities) were made readily available; check out = 11am; I was happy that the window opened (unlike many in Japan) to allow some fresh air in; I could see Sakurajima from the window - although that did require turning my head...
The bathroom was very small which made having a shower uncomfortable (shower curtain sticking to you) and having a bath even more so; the fridge was small; there was bad lighting in the room - no way to dim the harsh overhead light; there was a wire network covering the window; only 2 (clothes) hangers in the room...
