Sandcastle combines all the prime features of oceanfront living with proximity to options for activity as varied as the constellations above. Highlights of this home include a private unheated pool, hot tub (all year round), and access to tennis courts and playground areas. Starting at ground level, this home has plenty to boast about. This includes a recreation room with a queen sofa bed, a mini-kitchen with a wet bar, a TV and a game table. Comfots include a primary bedroom, a queen primary bedroom, a half bath, while a laundry room, an elevator, and a garage for parking small car/s and/or storage round out your necessities. Experience complete comfort in the mid-level of the home with a primary bedroom, a queen primary bedroom, and a primary bedroom with two single beds. There is also a sitting room with a queen sofa bed, a TV, and a full bath for added relaxation. You'll have the perfect balance of entertainment and convenience at the very top of the home. A spacious great room with a TV, an expansive full kitchen with two refrigerators and two dishwashers, a dining area, a primary bedroom, a half bath, and a loft area can be found here. And with free WiFi and TVs in every room, entertainment options are endless during your stay. SHARED AMENITIES -Outdoor pool -Hot tub -Tennis court -Playground Areas THINGS TO KNOW For January and February bookings, please contact the property management company to ensure the hot tub is available. Cabana service is available from May 28 through September 5, 2023. The pool is open from the end of April through mid-October. Port-a-crib and a high chair are available for guest use. There is a semi-private beach walkway on the property. You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement. This property is managed by Vacasa North Carolina LLC. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 4 vehicles. Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

We had a great week. The location of the home, its proximity to the beach, the size and configuration of the home all were wonderful. We spent time at the beach, in the pool and enjoying time together as a family. We would recommend staying here.
Our only thought is that it is time for the home to be updated. It could use some new flooring and a general refresh compared to other homes in the area.

the home was nice and clean, third floor has ocean view and the pool and hot tub was amazing. the only thing that we did not enjoy are the neighbors they look over a lot and second night there they threw a crab in the pool, so watch for them. also the elevator was not working which would have helped a lot with groceries in a 3 story home w kitchen at the top. other than that beautiful home with the ocean a few feet away definitely recommend!!

This is run by a management company. It sucks. Working with an owner is so much better. I couldn’t even get an answer to my questions regarding the property BEFORE I booked, but this was one of the last houses available for my dates, (now i know why) for my grandmas birthday so I went ahead and booked anyway….Non refundable, no payment plans, and when we had issues (which will be provided below), no resolution came at all. We will not be renting this house again - unless it’s free lol. I couldn’t fit my entire review in the box but there’s more…
1. Cleanliness
- Gross!!
- Dirty linens in bags in the front yard, dirty linens on a few beds, dirty oven gloves & hand towels, dirty rugs, nobody swept under the couches or beds in who knows how long, dirty oven, dirty high chair, dirty ceiling fans.
2. Location
- It is not oceanfront. It is ocean view with a LONG steep deck, but there are two houses behind us that are the oceanfront.
- The neighborhood is so quiet and nice.
3. Broken Items Inside House
- The kitchen sink faucet
- One of the freezers
- The bathroom in master bedroom upstairs had a railing in the tub that was broken in half leaving pipe exposed.
- Multiple shower heads in the house were loose and sprayed the ceiling while on.
- Bedroom doors would not close completely.
- Vacasa had a repair guy come out the second day, but he told us it would take him hours to fix everything so he didn’t fix anything.…

The house was spacious, has multiple fridges and ovens. This allowed for a fairly comfortable stay and easier cooking for a larger group.

This was a typical rental property which was owned by a group or person for the specific purpose of renting it as an investment. (This is my opinion) First of all, when I have rented before from VRBO the host was always the owner with who you could communicate with. With this property the host was Vacasa, another agency that sees after these properties and manages them for the true owner. This I do not like because it inserts another level of hosts. The property was generally clean, but the floors had never been vacuumed or swept and there was even Crums on the table. Furnishings were adequate but sparce and the floors were in dire need to be cleaned and refinished. We chose this one this year because it had an elevator. This is very necessary for us with a disabled person and greatly appreciated when the kitchen and main socializing space is on the 3rd floor. Carrying groceries and heavy luggage up is a real chore. All in all, it was adequate, and we all had a great Christmas get together. It was so much different from what we rented last year in Duck though that gave us a little disappointment. Last year our host was the owner and not a property management firm. It was equipped with everything you could possibly need and never have to run to the store to buy essentials. We were even greeted with a wine and popcorn welcome gift. We would have gone back there had it been equipped with and elevator.To VRBO--It was very confusing to rent this year. I started out renting and paying my deposit to you and also taking out the insurance from you. Then I suddenly found out that I was handed over the Vacasa who wanted the balance of the payment and kept insisting that I did not have any insurance. If I rent from you again, I only will deal with you and the host will be the owner NOT another managment firm.

I booked this home for a girls getaway and it was perfect. The kitchen is a great layout for prepping meals as a group. Plenty of pots/pans/dishes. We loved how spacious and spread out the rooms are. We were all able to have our own space at the end of the day to unwind. The only regret is not getting to use the hot tub during our stay! We loved the house and would stay here again.

Pros- Great house and proximity to beach. You can see the beach and sunrise right from the top floor windows. House is located in well maintained gated community. Cons- The beds were extremely uncomfortable. Sometimes at night you can smell the water treatment plant not to far from the house.

Great place! Few issues with the chairs getting set up on the beach. The drains in the showers could be cleaned as they drained very slowly.

(Our room had streaming services - like Disney & Hulu which was fun to watch on the rainy days.)The pool and hot tub was very clean. We would stay here again.

ages. Kitchen is very well equipped with newish appliances (2 frigs, 2 dishwashers, large double ovens) and plenty of dishes. Nice sized dining table for communal eating and plenty of living spaces (indoors and outside) to find a private nook to read, converse or watch TV. Good views to the ocean from the 3rd floor and easy walking to restaurants and grocery store. Perhaps bring your bikes to explore further and a Roku for the main living room television. We rented the house for a week with some friends. It was the perfect spot for our group. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants, plenty of room in the home, and great access to the beach. We would definitely visit again.

Location is great but lower floors hot at night. They finally sent a person who said nothing was wrong. When I got back I looked at one of the two outside units and it was trying to start but couldn’t. Need better service people and quicker response.

The view is excellent and the house is well set up. We loved it! The Vacasa staff was helpful too. This house, however, has a few issues. 1. Two kitchen drawers were a mess and would not shut and got often got stuck. 2. The stove wasn’t the best either. It is an electric one and if a pot slide over the flat operation panel - it turns other burners on and/or changes the temp which is a hazard. 3. The most unfortunate issue was that two bedrooms had huge water leaks during a rain storm which caused the carpets to get soaked well into the bedrooms. This has clearly happened before as there is mold under the carpet. This truly needs to be addressed. 4. Hot tub lid needs to be fixed and Vacasa was addressing that issue however would not be fixed while we were there. 5. The down stairs south end bedroom has no hot water. 6. The cleaning staff should take note when drains are clogging up and get them cleared out before guest arrive. The first day we needed someone out to unclog drains. 7. No BROOM! A simple broom would have been appreciated instead of an electric vacuum cleaner. 8. Better instructions for the TVs would also help and make less hassle for the Vacasa staff as we kept having to call them. 9. A queen bedroom has no dresser and something needs to be in there. Thank you Vacasa for getting a cot as the house was supposed to come with a pack and play and didnt. As I said, the location of this particular house is excellent and the bedroom layout is also good. The pool was wonderful as was our stay.

We loved our stay at the Sandcastle! The house is in a private gated community with easy walking distance to the grocery stores and the shops! We had our own boardwalk style walkway to the beach and enough space for everyone!

The house is in a great location, relative to the beach and to shopping at Food Lion and Timbuktu II shopping. A pleasant surprise was the rentals they offered at the cabana at the end of Orion Way (chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, bikes, etc). One comment I would make is the house is on the older side (pre-2000), and certain aspects (outside decks in particular) do show their age. Elevator in the house was very useful. Do not plan to park an SUV in the garage - too small due to ramp they installed to make moving stuff to elevator easier, but more than enough outside parking.

Great Location
This was in a great location. There have been noticeable updates to the rental which made it fresh and new. One small problem with the door lock was resolved immediately. The patio door locks are tricky and not broken. Lift handle up and then lock. ☺️ One dishwasher is not working but there are two so we managed fine. Some of the drains are slow so need attention. Overall this is a beautiful property and a great location just a short walk to the beach.
