Overall, we liked this house. It is clean and spacious with high ceilings and plenty of room to stretch out. The kitchen is well appointed with a separate dining area. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms nicely detailed. The deck is large with plenty of seating and a grill. The location is great: quiet, within about a mile of good swimming and hiking and convenient to North Conway (or getting around the North Conway traffic. The only negatives for us were the lack of chairs in the bedrooms, the lack of floor lamps and/or dimmers for the living room, necessitating the use of the very bright overheads and one neighbors property that is a bit of an eyesore but none of these minor issues would keep us from recommending this property.

Arriving late at night after a long drive to a freshly plowed driveway was great, but finding a porch light that didn't work was a sign that this wasn't going to be a 5-star VRBO experience. We settled in and found the house to be spacious and generally comfortable. That said, a number of things showed that this house needed some attention. The following were issues we found within the first 12 hours or so of our arrival: dirty fridge, bunk bed downstairs was shaky and a bit loose, toilet paper holder in upstairs bath was ripped from the wall, a curtain was missing in the downstairs bedroom, the loveseat was tattered and the cover had holes in it, the shower curtain liner in the upstairs bath was torn, one of the kitchen sink drains was so clogged that it took over an hour to drain, and, worst of all, the upstairs toilet was so clogged that it took two times of plunging and flushing to get it flowing. Also unacceptable is that basically every single dish in the kitchen had a greasy film on it and needed washing prior to use. With no dishwasher, this was very inconvenient. I contacted Abbey, the property manager, and relayed the issues we found. She said this was unacceptable and they'd send someone to fix things. The porch light was working by our second night, but nothing else was fixed. When I contacted her the second time I advised that they didn't need to do anything else as we only had a couple more nights. I never heard anything more from her until I received checkout instructions - no apology, offer for a credit, etc... The location is decent - on a quiet country road that gets good attention from the snowplows. It's close enough to town but also super quiet with awesome star gazing. The view out one side is of a trailer which is not so desirable. The kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. The layout is unique, it's well equipped for some things but poorly equipped for others, the open shelving leaves everything to collect dust and grime, the lack of a dishwasher is an inconvenience, and there's not great storage for food. It wasn't all bad. As noted, it was super quiet, the house has good space, warm heat, good water pressure, and comfy beds. Best of all, the fireplace is amazing and a true centerpiece in the home. The dry firewood in the basement was also appreciated! All in all, we had an okay stay despite the issues, but this house needs some attention and updating, plus more attentive property management.
