After three weeks of travelling in hostels and sharing rooms with strangers, this was a very welcome respite. I booked a single room with a shared bathroom and enjoyed the common areas, the kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom was always free with a nice powerful shower and hot water. The house is an old mansion and the owner has decorated it with artwork. It's a very unique environment and unlike nowhere else. If you appreciate art and want to dig deeper into the outskirts of Detroit, then stay here.
While it doesn't look too far from downtown on the map, the location is quite far out, so a taxi from the centre might cost £30-40 at surge times. Detroit's public transport is notoriously unreliable and slow, so I wasted a lot of time walking down long boulevards and waiting for/missing buses to get into town. If you are in a hurry to be somewhere, stay downtown.

It was easy to access, super accesible to downtown, very cute and had all the necessary amenities for a quick or long stay
It could be cleaner. It was very dusty and the floors were not clean in the room. The lock on the door only locked well from the inside.

If you are a lover of the strange, or abstract you will love this place. I felt at home with the art on the walls, and instruments around the living room.
