About this house rental
Nestled in Bridgman, this attractive house for $225 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Welcome to “Gast House” a charming little cottage surrounded by mature trees on 2 acres of land. Our three bedroom home is located only 90 minutes from Chicago and a worlds away from the city. This beautiful private rural home is just minutes from fantastic wineries, breweries, restaurants, golfing, antique shops and beautiful Lake Michigan. Also, a short drive to Sawyer, Lakeside and New Buffalo. Our bright cozy home features an open living room / kitchen floor plan. There is one bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, two bedrooms upstairs with a lofted area. We offer a full kitchen with a large stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, full sized refrigerator and plenty of space for a chef inspired meal. If you prefer to grill we have that too! After a day of fun come home to our basketball hoop & outdoor fire pit. Our indoor fireplace will keep you warm in Fall & Winter. For those that need to be connected we offer WIFI & Smart television with Netflix and Hulu. No need to schlep all your beach supplies. We offer beach chairs, umbrella and a cooler for a day at the lake. Our home is great for family getaways, couples, bachelorette weekends and more. All the beauty and serenity of a small quaint town but close to all that Michigan has to offer. Beautiful beaches, kayaking, hiking, and amazing sunsets await you.

Gast House was the perfect home base for our friends weekend in Bridgman! It's a couple minutes' drive into town, and there's a grocery store right down the street. Not far from the beach, either, although we didn't go on this trip because December. Inside is tastefully decorated and cozy. The kitchen is appointed with the basics like cups, plates, and utensils (but if you're preparing a meal I would pack some cooking implements and staples like oil, sugar, etc). You have to go through the loft room upstairs to get to the other two rooms, which we were comfortable with but I can see being awkward for some. Stairs going up are typical for an old house - steep, narrow, and a little creaky. Would probably avoid putting Grandma up there but we managed fine. All in all we had a lovely stay and will definitely be back next time we're visiting our friend!

We passed the property the first time trying to find it, the house is kinda blocked by some trees from street, but figured it out. While there’s neighboring houses there’s space between them and it has a lot of privacy. It’s relatively close to any activity you really want to do. We were able to climb Warren Dunes, do some things in Stevensville, New Buffalo, and St Joes.
It was a pretty low key weekend for us and not super warm, but the weather held out enough for us to utilized the fire pit. When the weather was bad we moved it to the fire place.
The clawfoot tub was my favorite. It’s probably the deepest tub I’ve been in in years that actually had a hot water tank large enough to fill it. I felt like a little kid.
Someone else had mentioned the stairs being steep to the second floor, which is true. It wasn’t a problem for us, but ended up staying on the first floor most the trip anyway.
Basement stairs are also a bit steep and they warn you to watch your head on your way up/down… and you should heed that warning. I did really well a couple times and got cocky my last pass up and clocked myself good by standing up too early.
The place looks as advertised. Very cute. The longer I looked around the more little decor details I noticed. It’s like staying in a Pier One Imports store.

We had a great time here! It was a beautiful home! We went to the beach one day and took some of the chairs and towels provided, which were very nice to have! Margaret was always very responsive! The automatic lock was acting weird, so I told Margaret over the app and she quickly responded! She gave us her cell, so that when we got back we could call if it still wasn’t working. The lock ended up running out of batteries, so I called Margaret when we got home and she had a secondary option for us to get in! Everything else worked as expected! The place was adorable! And the beds and couches were comfy! There were enough plates for all 5 of us all weekend and extra toilet paper and dishwasher detergent. The only thing we wish would have been there but wasn’t, we’re some cooking/ shower staples like flour, olive oil, sugar, body wash, shampoo, conditioner. Overall, though, it was a great stay! We had a lovely time and would definitely go back! I also loved that the house has some trees in the front so you can’t see it from the room! It felt very private!

Good spot a couple of miles to the beach. The beach supplies came in handy. The place was clean and comfortable. The stairs to the 2nd level are steep but there is a bedroom on the 1st floor for those who have trouble with stairs. I would stay here again.

Great completely renovated old farmhouse in beautiful wooded and private surroundings. Margaret was a perfect host! We made great memories and would highly recommend!!! Super clean!!!

We wanted to visit Lake Michigan and this charming little place made that possible! Great proximity to several nice beaches. Plenty of sleeping space, great kitchen and a huge yard with a fire pit and a swing. One more bathroom would have been nice (upstairs) so my kids didn't have to go down those steep stairs at night, but we made it work. Host (Margaret) was amazing! Responsive and kind! Would stay again!

Adorable home on a beautiful wooded lot that was about a 5 min drive to Weko Beach. Lots of room to spread out (3 kids, ages 5-10) and home was well-stocked (paper products, cleaning items, etc). Communication with Margaret was incredibly easy at every single turn and we really appreciated the local guide she left for us indicating good restaurants and activities as well as additional beach items (coolers, boogie board, chairs, etc). Loved having a washer/dryer available to stay caught up on beach laundry but tall folks beware of the short ceilings and steep steps (which is completely expected for this type of home). We found it easy to feel at home in this lovely house.

We enjoyed our stay in the house. Unfortunately the beach was closed for 2 days for a festival but enjoyed surrounding beaches and St. Joseph. For the house, you will need to warn guests that the bathtub is a challenge to step out of being a claw foot tub and very difficult stairs to upstairs and basement. But thats pretty typical for these MI homes. Some things to bring with you before you come would be salt and pepper shakers, Kleenex and ground coffee (not a k-cup machine). The house was very clean and tidy. However, the bath towels must have been folded while still wet because they smelled like mildew. Had to rewash them all before use. Overall, we had a great time and appreciate the nice accommodations.

Gast House is as advertised - sweet, cozy and clean as a whistle. Margaret made everything very easy and could not have been more responsive when we encountered trouble with a window when literal gale force winds came through.

This house was perfect for our family of four. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, and the town was lovely. It's such a short drive to the lake and would be a perfect place to stay for summer. We stayed in October and the fall colors were amazing. The house had everything we needed and was so well-kept. I would absolutely recommend!

This was a lovely house on nice quiet property (with a great firepit and rope swing) - rooms were spacious and clean, and the kitchen was quite well stocked. Location is a drive from most activities, but there is a grocery store really close by which was super convenient. Would highly recommend!

This was the best place for my husband, myself and our three year old son for a relaxing getaway and our first time venturing to Michigan as a family. We wanted a place within a close drive to the beach and the town of Bridgman and Weko Beach did not disappoint! Margaret and her family were wonderful hosts and thought of everything one would need to have a great beach experience - including providing beach chairs, coolers, and an umbrella. My son also loved the “boogie board” so he could pretend to surf the waves. We so enjoyed the town of Bridgman and neighboring communities. Great places to eat and great scenery! We got to capitalize on peach season and even went to a nearby orchard to do some u-picking. The to-do guide provided by Margaret was a great reference as well and helped us plan our week. Would also recommend visiting nearby St Joseph…the beach and Curious Kids Discovery Zone was a great way to spend the day. Plus Silver Harbor Brewing Company had such amazing food we went there to eat twice.
All in all, a fantastic vacation. The Gast House was a perfectly secluded little spot for us and was a great place to retreat to and relax after a hard day of playing at the beach. We couldn’t have asked for a better home away from home!

My family and I stayed at Margaret’s beautiful home for a week. We had everything that we would need—and more. The home is clean, beautifully decorated and the beds are super comfortable. If you’re looking for a great place to stay in Southwest Michigan, look nowhere else.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gast House. The house is very comfortable and nicely decorated. There was more room than we were expecting, with a large loft upstairs with a queen size bed. It was a perfect arrangement with our two kids each in their own room upstairs and us in the loft, with an extra bedroom downstairs. We appreciated the actual crib for our little guy (vs a pack n play)! The location was great. Weko Beach is just 1.5 miles away. Also 20 mins from Warren Dunes and Silver Beach, but we actually preferred Weko. Lots of wineries and breweries nearby. Even a cute Blueberry farm just down the road, which we easily walked to. Wish we stayed longer!

Great Stay at Gast House
We have been vacationing in the area for several years and endeavor to try new neighborhoods when we can. The Gast House provided an easy jaunt over to explore Bridgman and enjoy Weko Beach. The house has been classically updated with clean lines and modern white decor. We did have 2 young children under 5 years of age with us. The rooms on the second floor were great to separate the littles for bedtime and the main areas served us well with an open floorplan.
My oldest daughter enjoyed the yard while picking flowers, exploring the tree-swing, and sampling the wild raspberries. The steps up to the second floor were a little steep for my 2 year old but no issues as we kept on eye on it. It would be nice to have an outdoor area tailored more for adults, such as a deck off the back or something in front, but the kids definitely enjoyed the yard. The house was clean and fit all our needs. We enjoyed our stay and would come to stay again!

This was truely a wonderful expierence for all of us.
The property was everything that was advertised and more. We were able to enjoy all the amenities; the fire pit, the grill, the lake, the shopping and especially the after dinner ice cream cones. We enjoyed our time at this vacation home so much. We didn’t have a single problem. Everything was beautifully decorated, light, bright and airy. We had more than enough space even as a family of five. It’s a great location and close to everything we enjoy in Harbor Country. We can’t wait to come back sometime!
