Very nice , very , large , great boat docking, nice slide off the dock , excellent a/c ,

We enjoyed our stay. It accommodated our large group very well. Most of the other reviews I read were pretty accurate. The steps down to the dock are in need of some repairs and the cleanliness was about 3.75/5.00. But, we kind of knew that going in based on the reviews we had read. The number of steps going down to the dock was NOT an issue. We've stayed at a few houses with many more steps than this house so that was a positive. There were plenty of beds, etc. Kitchen was well stocked. Overall it was a very good experience and we had a great time.

Our first trip to Norris Lake was awesome! We had a large group of 5 families, and the house was spacious where we didn't feel crowded. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could think of. Gretchen was always so quick to answer my questions and everything at the house was described as listed. The cove was great for all adults and kids! It was such a great experience!

listing is pretty accurate. several bonus amenities. great location on the lake, nice and quiet.

We had a great stay and Gretchen was very responsive to any inquiries. As others have pointed out, the very bottom of the stairs leading to the dock are in need of replacement. Otherwise, the property easily accommodated our large and rambunctious family. The amount of king-size beds beats any other property we have rented in the past; awesome.

Super close to all the essentials. Jumping Bridge, grocery stores and Sugar Hallow Marina are all within 10-15 minutes.
There are quite a bit of steps to get down to the water (my son counted 118 from the top floor down to the dock). You get used to it pretty quickly and from the looks of it that is pretty standard for all the houses on the lake.
We all had a blast jumping from the top deck of the dock and going down the slide. The dock could use some attention as some decking had rot, the bucket used for bringing water to the slide was cracked and the lights down at the dock didn’t work.
As for the house, it served it’s purpose as advertised. There were a total of 17 of us staying there, 8 adults and 9 kids. We had plenty of room for hanging out and sleeping. The 4 story concept of the house actually worked out great as each family basically had their own floor.
There were some things in the house that need fixing/attention, to be fair to the host we didn’t reach out to her for anything during our stay so she didn’t have an opportunity to address.
-The bottom floor had a very distinct musty or moldy smell. The bedroom that shares a wall with the laundry room smelled really bad as well so we didn’t use it. (We found an open bag of charcoal under the bed, guessing to absorb the moisture and smell)
-Gnats in the kitchen when we got there that were constantly around the food.
-Outside deck lights for the 2nd level and lower level didn’t work.
-No beach towels

This was a truly unplugged vacation. Phones worked via the Wi-Fi at the house sporadically. It was great. We rented a boat and floated and fished off the dock. There are a ton of stairs but the house, views and lake is beautiful. I will definitely be returning.

Great location and good time. Biggest issue we had was lack of bathrooms, but we knew that going in. Overall house was in good shape. Its showing some wear, but was clean and everything worked as it should. Owner/operator was very responsive and helpful. It was a fun and relaxing vacation.

We had a wonderful time and I would stay here again. Gretchen was easy to communicate with and the house met all of our needs. Parking was not great, though I don't think there's much to be done about that. You can only park 3 cars at the house and have to shuttle others to the pool to park. The stairs and walkway to the deck are also a little tricky if you have older guest or small kids as they are a little unstable, so something to keep in mind. The pots and pans weren't great, but that's pretty typical and understandable at a rental, so just bring a few of your own if you are planning to cook a lot. Otherwise, it was great! My kids told me it was the best vacation ever! The house is in a nice private cove with very little boat traffic and the dock with the slide was a blast! We rented a pontoon boat for a few days and being able to dock it at the house was perfect.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this property!! The host was very responsive and attentive to our needs. We loved the amenities and all that the home had to offer. My family and I started to plan our next visit before we even left! We will be back!

The stay was good besides the one bedroom in basement was extremely cold and the bed was broken, upon arrival.

We definitely enjoyed the property. The hills are a little scary but the time of year and location were great

Every year our family of 5 adult children, plus littles takes a vacation. It's hard to find a home large enough but this 9 bedroom, 5 story was perfect. Two of the living areas had pullout couches for addition sleepers as well. The different levels was great for privacy. The dock had skis, a paddle boat and a water mat which was great for the little ones. The kitchen had a ton of utensils, pans, baking dishes for large groups. Would highly recommend for any large gathering 😀

wide array of activities or do nothing at all. great place to get away.

House was nice, location was great.
A few minor things were broken or not right but didn't affect stay, so I did not bother contacting host during our stay. She was very responsive and great when asking questions before the trip. Would recommend this house to large groups...overall had a great time.

We liked the number of bedrooms for our large group. The amenities were very adequate. The private nature of the lake was very nice.
The decking needed some repair. An number of sinks were very slow to drain.
Overall, we would rent this house again.

Nice stay
Nice space, lots of room, beautiful area. Really bad directions on getting there, no signs leading to the road. Drove around for 45 minutes til someone told me there was another road off the boat ramp entrance. Tried to contact owner for a few problems but cell service was unreliable. Lots and lots of stairs if that is a problem for anyone. And horrible parking. Limit of 3 to 4 cars and the walk to the additional parking area is not close and up hill all the way. But we loved the area and the water with the dock space.

Great Vacation
Our family had a wonderful time and would have stayed longer! There were a few problems resulting from the previous tenants (eg….the broken pedal boat). Gretchen was very responsive and helped as much as she was able. If you have children ages 2-10, you just have to be aware that the house sits on a hill that accesses the lake by many steps and thus there is really no outdoor play area for kids other than the deck

Great Location
We loved the location of this home. Nice cove, easy access to lake. Parking is very limited, but we knew this upfront. Not a big deal, we just shifted cars as needed. The only drawback was the size of dining space and kitchen for our large family. It stormed every night during dinner. Therefore, utilizing the outdoor seating was not an option. Owner was very responsive to emails, which I appreciated.

Family time at Norris Lake
Rental process was easy. Gretchen was quick to return any messages sent to her. The house was just as described. Our family had a wonderful experience. The cove was quiet and great for floating and relaxing.

Great location and house for a large group
We do about 2-3 lake rentals per year, so hopefully I can give helpful information to those looking to rent in the future considering there are mixed reviews. We had 22 people, ages 5 - 70. This is definitely not a one star house, but there are also several things that would need to be done to make it 5 stars IMO. We love Lake Norris & the location of this house is awesome. The cove is quiet & safe for the kids to enjoy the dock & slide and swim at all hours of the day. Plenty of blue gill around the dock for the kids to catch as well. The dock gets sun late in the day & shade in the morning which was perfect for our crew of morning fishing & late swimming. The dock is a little older but by no means beat up. It looks like any bad boards had been replaced. There is no power at the dock, but that was not a big deal for us & the bucket and rope were fine for the slide. The paddle boat was broken, but the owner stated that no one had told her & that she will order replacement parts to get it repaired. The no wake zone out to the main lake was a little longer than expected (about 10 minutes to the jumping bridge), but still not bad. Boat ramp is very close, but very steep (13 degrees), so be prepared. The house appears to be a little older & showing some signs of it's age. Mainly carpet, baseboards, bathrooms & HVAC. Baseboards could use a coat of paint and carpet a good deep cleaning or replacing. But this was not a surprise with a large house with this many people regularly staying & I'm sure a significant number of kids coming into the house wet from the lake or hot tub. That probably contributes to a little bit of the musty smell in the basement also. The HVAC did result in inconsistent temps between 1st floor & 3rd floor. Once we figured out to leave the 3rd floor temp set at 73 & close some of the shades from the afternoon sun, we had a comfortable temp on the 3rd floor & not too cold on the first floor. The fans in the top floor loft made sleeping there fine as it was a little warmer than the other floors. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, appliances & silverware for our large group. It was all a little scattered, so you had to hunt a little, but that is not the owners fault as I know renters move stuff around. The furniture was all in good shape and comfortable. We spend most of our time on the lake, and everyone in our group agreed the pros outweighed the cons and would stay here again. Owner was great and responded quickly to anything.

Many issues to describe!
1) dirthy house, kitchen floors carpets tubs toilets tables door handles and many more
2) ac issues upstairs and downstairs! Upstairs were very hot downstairs cold! Rooms are had smell of mold!
Hot tub switch didn’t work and water was very dirthy so I had to drain water and clean the filter in order to use it! However switch was broken and we had warm tub not hot tub!
Showers didn’t had enough pressure and tubs were getting clogged every time we use them!
Toilets were not tight and dirty inside!
Dishes all were greased and dirthy! Grill was dirthy so we had to clean it!
I don’t know why I pay 400$ for cleaning fee if we cleans the property way way better than it was!
Refrigerator ice maker was broken and filter needed to be replaced! Owner offered 2 bags of the ice and repaired the fridge but nobody replaced the filter!
Upstairs deck floor was falling apart the owner replaced few floor woods!
Inside that beds there was ant or some bugs in few rooms!
However we had 4 families in the begging of our week and 2 families run away after 3 days because of the condition!
I would suggest Vrbo to describe the property as is not exaggerating thinks
I did contact Vrbo but 2ce waited for over 30 min and never reached anyone!
I would suggest anyone who will reserve this property to go check it in person!!

The owner did respond but stated that it’s had to find good cleaner I can agree because I have a cleaning business for 17 years . There is a lot of steps up and down you will sure get your exercise in I know that I lost 5 lbs 😂It’s very hilly getting to this house so if you can see don’t go out when it’s dark maybe dangerous. Downstairs is very cold and the upstairs is very hot . It had some chairs that were weak and broke . The internet is signal is awful no one had a good signal so it will disconnect. The tv in The living room is the only one that worked but sometimes gets goes out. The patio , stove, fridge, floors, toilet were dirty . Dust was on the ceiling fans and air vents , blinds . No mop or dish rag other then that we made the best of it for 3 days.

Everything went great on the trip. Boat rentals aren't real far and everyone communicates well. Wifi is really rough if you need it. But, that is mentioned up front. We are all pretty glad it wasn't that great of a signal. The lake and the house were awesome.

Pros: we loved the number of bedrooms, the location was awesome (in a cove, close to the bridge to jump), the boat dock was nice, stairs to the dock were much better than most, lots of extra cooking items, nice large refrigerator withe extra fridge in bottom floor. Cons: 4 bathrooms didn't prove to be enough for our family, the place was a bit beat up (black marks on warn carpet, worn out bed coverings, filthy white baseboards), the 2nd floor always got hot at night. They probably need to go through some of the kitchen items and purge non working/ unnecessary items.

Lakeside Estates is such a wonderful spot to disconnect and relax! The pedal boat was a lot of fun, and being on the cove was really nice. The beds were comfy, the grill was wonderful, the house was stocked with little things like spices, trash bags, dish washing detergent, bar soap (for hand washing) and toilet paper, which was awesome, especially on first arriving. A couple things you may want to bring if you're planning to cook there: colander, grater, sharp knives. There wasn't a cheese grater or colander and the knives there were useable, but quite dull. Loved our stay and would definitely come back!
