Fish Camp is just outside Yosemite National Park's southern entrance, surrounded by Sierra National Forest, located at 5,000 feet elevation, which means cool summer mornings and evenings and comfortable daytime temperatures. Ten miles to the south is Bass Lake, with fishing, boating, and swimming. There's horseback riding, short hikes to waterfalls, and the Sugar Pine Railroad two miles away. Just inside Yosemite's gate, three miles away, is the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias - some of earth's largest, most breathtaking trees. Twelve miles to the south is Oakhurst, with shops, grocery stores, entertainment, and art galleries. Four miles into Yosemite is the village of Wawona, with horseback riding, golfing, stagecoach rides, dining, and a seasonal pioneer history center.
