About this house rental

Cradled under the shade of giant oaks and minutes from the beach is your "Endless Weekend" retreat. This modern, spacious 1700 square foot home is the perfect location to escape to the woods or the shores of Lake Michigan. Every detail has been curated to create an eco-friendly respite from the bustle of city life. A perfect place to connect to nature, family, and friends. We are so excited to share this peaceful space with you! This home is ideal for small family reunions, a couples getaway, creatives and anyone craving a slower pace with hints of luxury...giving it that feel of a weekend that you never want to end:) Only an hour drive from Chicago, this lovely retreat was born out of our desire to share our love of nature and connection with anyone who needs a break from the intensity of city life. The space is designed to provide a sense of peace, calm and joy by creating all things cozy...from super-plush throws and pillows, to sweet little reading nooks with woodland views out of oversized picture windows in each bedroom. Relax with a cup of tea or coffee from the refreshment nook on our quaint screened-in porch. Cuddle up in front of our electric fireplace and watch a film together in the media room, complete with Apple TV to stream your favorite shows. Round out the perfect day relaxing by the fire pit under the stars. The two-story house contains plenty of eco-friendly features throughout, including solar-powered outdoor lighting, energy efficient kitchen appliances, split air-conditioning units in each room for customized comfort, radiant floor heating and a tankless water heater to ensure you’ll never run out of hot water. Our home is also equipped with internet, and brand new full size stacked washer and dryer for your laundering needs. FOR SLEEPING - 2 MASTER BEDROOMS + LOUNGE Two large upstairs bedrooms feature high vaulted ceilings, queen beds with comfy bedding, and lots of natural light through oversized picture windows. Tuck into a meditation space near the window in the cheerful Canyon Room, or cozy up in the Woodland Room’s reading nook. There is also a queen pull-out bed downstairs in the Lounge for extra guests - please note this sleeping arrangement is shared with the dining/lounge space. *Note: if you are someone who needs black out curtains or likes to close all the shades, this is not the place for you. While we have curtains in the bedrooms for privacy facing the road, as noted our home has large picture windows without shades that let in gorgeous natural light and allow you to be immersed in nature. We purposely left them bare so you can see the amazing view. It’s a fairly quiet/private place so there’s no need to shutter in like you would in a city. Only birds peering in:) The evening gets quite dark towards the woods, and you’ll have a spectacular view of the uplighting we’ve installed of giant oaks and the solar star lights around the fire pit. BATHROOMS Both upstairs bedrooms share a large master bathroom complete with a deep soaking tub and rainfall shower combo with strong water pressure. The downstairs bathroom has a large floor-to-ceiling glass shower with a rainfall shower head. Both bathrooms are stocked with hair-dryers and natural products. KITCHEN We love to cook, so we’ve outfitted our open-concept kitchen with anything and everything you might need to cook a delicious meal, or shake up a cocktail or two:) Equipped with a gas stove-top, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, and all of your cooking basics including spices. If you need a break from all that COVID-era cooking, take a 10 minute stroll down the road for a wood-fired pizza at one of our favorite local joints (yes, you can actually walk to Michigan from our house!) or head to a lovely Italian restaurant toward the lake for delicious al fresco dining. LIVING ROOM We’ll be totally honest...we take couch life *very* seriously. So, the extra-deep Crate and Barrel couches we purchased for our communal spaces are truly our happy place in the house. Throw a record on our player and enjoy the company of the people you love to the sounds of good tunes. DINING ROOM/LOUNGE We wanted to create a space for people to share a meal in a traditional sense, so we converted this room into a lounge as a community space to feel a sense of togetherness. Spread out at our dining room table that seats up to 6 guests and dine together. We also have an assortment of books and board games to play on a rainy or drizzly afternoon. MEDIA ROOM Head to the upstairs entertainment gallery for family movie night and cuddle up front of our electric fireplace on our flat screen TV, complete with Apple TV and an XBox for those who like old school video games. OUTDOORS If the outdoors are calling to you, we have sliding glass doors that lead to a welcoming bistro area on the screened-in porch. The property line extends all the way to the protected wetlands behind the house, and the quiet space is perfect for gathering and connection at the picnic table or over s’mores at the glowing fire pit. Breathe in the infinity view of the forest preserve while lying in the hammock with a fun beach read. We also provide beach towels, camping chairs and a cooler for your use - perfect for a trip to the beach! COMMUNITY We are located in Grand Beach Crossing, a subdivision of brand new, architecturally modern homes on the northwest side of Michigan City just a few minutes from the Michigan state line. We are currently 1 of 4 completed homes within the community, and our neighbors are wonderful, friendly people! The rest of the subdivision is currently under construction. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: -- We are in a small subdivision with 4 other homes off of Highway 212 - we are the only occasional Airbnb, so we ask that you respect our neighbors' privacy and keep noise to a minimum after 10 pm. -- There are train tracks running parallel to the highway and an Amtrak that passes a few times a day. These pass-throughs are brief and with fairly minimal noise given the nearby tree cover. -- There is a hardwood, open slat staircase joining the first and second floors that may require adult supervision for small children. -- As this is a brand new home with all new (light colored) furnishings, we are not accepting pets at this time. Our policy may change in the future, but right now we ask that you keep your furry friends with their favorite Auntie or Uncle at home. --Our landscaping is primarily natural materials (mulch and gravel) and with the stairs and 2 floors, unfortunately this home is not ADA compliant and is not meant for someone in a wheelchair. --Please reach out if you have any questions or let us know if you’re celebrating something special while you stay, we'll do our best to accommodate any requests. --Please also inquire if one of your requested dates is not listed or shows blocked on the calendar, we are happy to see what we can do! HEALTH & HYGIENE: We comply with all COVID-19 cleaning and disinfecting protocols to ensure you feel safe during your stay. We ask that you please remove your shoes and wash your hands upon entering. If you or anyone in the reservation becomes sick, has a fever, or comes in contact with anyone with COVID before or during your stay please reach out to me immediately! Please reach out and cancel if you become sick before your arrival. ANTI-DISCRIMINATION: Our home and neighborhood welcome all guests regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender or country of origin. We are proudly LGBTQ+ supportive and anti-racist. If there's anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable please let us know!

We had a fantastic time at Dana and Josh's place! It was incredibly cool and trendy. The pictures don't do it justice! They had smores materials for us, charcoal for the grill and wood for the fire pit. We were a very quick drive to the beach and to downtown New Buffalo. My 2 year old daughter loved looking for bugs outside! Dana and Josh were very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We are already planning to book this place again. It was beautiful!

We loved our stay! The property was beautiful and easily accommodated our small family. Close to Washington Park and Indiana Dunes State Park, we were able to keep everyone in our party (adults, teenagers and a toddler) entertained. The house is full of quirky personal touches from the owners that made our stay memorable.

Every single thing was on point! Plenty of cozy spots to curl up on our rainy day, lots of room to spread out when everyone needed alone time, and excellent gathering space for eating. Beautifully decorated from top to bottom. I personally loved the selection of teas and mugs. Thank you for sharing your space with us!

We had such a wonderful time at this house!. It was so well stocked, even beyond what the listing described. I’ve stayed in houses with the bare minimum and this one is a step above the rest. Every area of the house had all the perfect touches and decorations. It was all well thought out! It is about a 10 minute drive to New Buffalo and the public beach. The communication with Dana was quick and helpful. She answered our questions immediately and was always very friendly. Thank you so much for a great stay!
