Nice, clean property perfect for a getaway that's not too far from Toronto. The only drawback is the check-out time, which is very early.

This is a special place. If you want to be truly in the woods, yet conveniently close to town, and nestled in a place rich with history and charm, I highly recommend Curtis and Julia's cabin. My cousin and I feel grateful to have gotten an opportunity to spend time there.
The guestbook is detailed and excellent and Curtis and Julia were communicative and helpful hosts. Wonderful experience all around, thank you!

Great location! Everything we needed for a peaceful week away.

A peaceful, magical place where time seems to stand still and the outside world can be shut out temporarily. A wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while glamping in this lovely, cozy, clean cabin with all the comforting amenities. The "Shack" is also a wonderful part of our Canadian music history as it was built by Bob Lanois, musician, producer and visionary. Many thanks to Julia and Curtis for preserving the energy and vitality of the dream while creating a special place with their own personal touches. Many thanks...

When you first pull in through the "cave" of trees, it is a magnificent view. You approach the cabin and it is so serene and peaceful. The entire stay was wonderful!! The cabin was adorable and a great escape. The trees were a perfect shade for not having covers on the windows. It was so freeing and beautiful. Woke up one morning to a herd of deer right outside the window. This was perfect!!! Thank you to Curtis and Julia were thoughtful hosts and take care of their guests!

What a fabulous place for a couple's getaway! A simple cabin in the woods that was absolutely immaculate! Curtis and Julia were fabulous hosts: prompt to respond and generous in so many little ways. We loved our time and hope to come back again soon!

The hosts are friendly and responsive. My girlfriend and I arrived at the cottage to find a welcome note and a complimentary bottle of local wine. This is a great place for a couple's getaway. We plan to return!

I stayed at the cabin recently with my 8 year old daughter. It is an incredible spot! The cabin is absolutely darling and immaculate kept. The property is serene. One is truly engulfed in nature. Both my daughter and I were shocked that this piece of paradise existed in Burlington. This will be my new "go to place" when I need a recharge and restore. My daughter asked if Curtis and Julie would accept our rental fee as a down payment to buy the cabin.....I'd say it was a hit with her too! Thank you for the fantastic reconnect with nature! You two were excellent hosts!

This cabin was even more beautiful than the pictures online could describe. It was the perfect getaway for my partner and I and I’d 100% go back! The property felt very private and secluded but yet we were still just a drive away from restaurants and even spend one morning at the local antique shops. The hosts were so welcoming and responded to any questions I had almost immediately. I cannot recommend this cabin and these hosts enough. This was the perfect way to spend a birthday with a loved one. :)

How can you still be in town but feel like you're miles away from civilization?
Cozy cute little cabin, tidy and clean. Lots of teas and coffee. The hosts were quick to respond to any questions and the cabin has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Didn't see the local herd of deer but did hear a pack of coyotes one evening. Enchanting.

The pictures speak for themselves in this charming, newly renovated cabin but it honestly does not prepare you for the experience of crossing the threshold.
Even before entering the sweet cottage entranceway, the winding drive up from the roadway, a blanket of peace washes over you as you're embraced by trees from all angles. It's hard to believe that you're in Burlington--and this is coming from someone who was raised in Burlington. Truth be told, I had a difficult time pinpointing the location in my mind's eye beforehand but had no issue finding it once I had the directions.
I went for a mini-getaway with my seven-year-old daughter in lieu of a camping trip but this offered exactly the same amenities plus a sense of security. Acres of hiking that my daughter handled with minimal effort but still challenged me, a hammock for lounging, barbecue, and space for running and playing. We were lucky enough to see four deer, chipmunks, and a wild turkey on the property in our short (two-night) stay.
The hosts provided every possible luxury I could imagine for such a trip. There were several types of tea, a personal note, essential oils for the diffuser, fully stocked cabinets, high-speed internet with a Roku television, ample parking, fluffy towels, pristine cleanliness, wood for the firepit, candles -- the list is extensive. From the moment we entered, the house smelled of fresh wood. It was a total woodland immersion.
Being close to Waterdown, Burlington, Hamilton, and Dundas, there are dozens of attractions, shops, and restaurants nearby to explore. We went to Burlington Beach, Spencer Smith Park, Waterdown Memorial Park, and stopped for ice cream at Dairy Queen.
History and music buffs will be entranced with the tale of how the cottage came to be. As someone in the field, I look forward to going back and using it as a writer's retreat.
Thank you, Julia and Curtis for allowing us to stay. It was exactly what we needed and we had the most amazing time. Hope to come again soon.

This unique cabin is not only very accessible, but also private. We greatly enjoyed the little things like cornhole, availablity of boardgames, and the multiple teas available. Definitely a place we will look to stay at in the future!
