A pleasant & comfortable stay, but some aspects disappointing.

The ambience, coziness, it was clean. position of the property was close to town & grounds lovely.

The firewood was advertised (on our confirmation letter & information in the cottage) as $35 a load, but when communicating with the owner regards organizing it she quoted $50, stating it had gone up. We stood firm & got it for $35.70! but that shouldn't have happened & it tainted our stay. We ran out of English breakfast tea bags, nowhere near enough left for 4 people we asked for more which were promised early in the day but on our return from a day out we had to request again. also, the tea bags were not labelled & so didn't know what the other bags were. Breakfast supplies were basic (also not enough milk for 4 for 2 mornings) & she would not cater for my husband who was coeliac, so he had to bring his own. very disappointing for the nightly price, we paid.

restful reflective short break from the hustle and bustle

well provisioned by the owner . it was lovely to have some essentials already there when we arrived. Lovely grounds to walk around.

Quaint cottage in a beautiful garden setting.

Breakfast items were inadequate for four people. Very small quantity of non Nescafe coffee pods provided for the number of days and guests.

Very very overpriced and disappointing

We loved the setting , however our cottage felt disconnected from the main cottage that had all the features. Fantastic dramatic entry at main gate , but from then on in it was all ver disappointing

The cottage was so terribly tired . Everything needed an update.Bathroom was awful, so old and needs a complete overhaul. Considering the fee, there is a level of comfort and expectation for the price point, this it just didn’t meet expectations.Gloomy and so many rules , couldn’t have a fire as it wasn’t allowed that time of year. You go away to have some R&R there was no dishwasher but an expectation we would hand wash all items , remove garbage , the rule list went on and on … Milton Park country house is luxurious and about the same price I think that’s where I will be staying next .

Had a lovely weekend at Southdown Cottage for my 40th birthday. Hope to come back again one day!

The cottage was warm and cosy and cute - felt just like staying in someone's home. The heating was on when we arrived, and we had everything we needed for our stay. We loved sitting in the bay window to have our coffees in the morning, and sitting around the fire in the evenings.

Great Cottage with loads of charm and wonderful gardens in a great location . You will want for nothing in the cottage . Everything has been thought of down to the last detail. A very Short drive into town. Wonderful host.
