About this house rental
The Commissary is a two-story building overlooking the tolling ponds located separately from the main compound. This structure was built sometime in the third quarter of the 18th century and was used to store the seed rice on the bottom floor and offer provisions for sale to the local community.
While the original adjoining Flemish Stable was destroyed by Hugo in 1989, the Commissary has survived intact and was recently renovated to offer modern conveniences. A keypad code will be given prior to arrival for guests to access the Commissary. The first code will be front gate access, the second code will be house access. Guests enter the top floor into an expansive living room and kitchen with adjoining dining space. There are two bedrooms with each offering its own separate bathroom. The Commissary offers separate parking and is an ideal option for guests wishing to separate from the main living areas while still accessing all of Middleburg.
Guests are welcome to use all outdoor common areas to the grounds of Middleburg. The property is a non-smoking facility and pets are not permitted on the premises. There is no cable or internet service at the commissary. Cell service is limited on the property dependent on provider. This building is only accessible via stairs. Note about wildlife/gators warning
- Must be 25 years of age or older to book this property
- No events allowed without prior authorization
- No pets allowed
- No smoking or vaping
- No fireworks
- Please park in designated areas on the gravel
- Only foot and bicycles are allowed on the trails
- Firearms are prohibited

Such a quaint place, with access to all the property grounds. Spending our 16th wedding anniversary in Charleston, this was the perfect place to reset and reconnect. The history of the property and coastal Carolina area was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you for sharing this amazing place!

Wife and I were looking for a quick weekend getaway from Upstate, SC. We both love history and found this property amazing. It has the live oak lined drive and its out away from the city/life. The Commissary was amazing, comfortable and well worth the price. The property was excellent to peruse and we will be back. ***Bring a book, as the cell service was as described... Spotty at best.
