I stay in a considerable amount because my sons play travel baseball. I can't afford to always stay in $180 a night rooms, so I'm always looking for value places to stay.
Vanllee is interesting because it looks beautiful in the online pictures, yet the reviews are awful. You always have to take the reviews with a grain of salt because people are overly critical
For starters, I was super annoyed because they wouldn't cancel my room. My sons tournament was changed to a city nowhere near West Covina where we originally were scheduled, but the hotel insisted they would not refund me so I was stuck here. It put me in a foul mood from the jump
You can't help but be struck by the beauty of the place. The architecture, grounds, and layout are phenomenal and all it takes is a little imagination to picture what this hotel looked like in its heyday
The rooms are not terrible. They are very large suites with comfortable beds, couches and chairs, and decent furnishings. The shower had plentiful hot water and good water pressure
Now for the downside:
Wi-Fi was terrible. Couldn't get anything better than a "weak" connection and staff continued to tell me that would reset the router but I don't think anyone knew how
Breakfast was embarrassing. It is served in a dingy banquet room, the food was subpar, and it was a poor experience
I had a mouse in my room. Scared the crap out of me when it ran by me. It scampered back through a hole in the wall which I stuffed a towel in

This Property Must have been totally up-scale in the 60’s. Now it’s just old, dated, rundown and just plain sad. Furniture looked original, elevators didn’t work, sketch clientele, service with bad attitudes. They tried to stick me with a room right over the I-10 freeway. I got them to move me to the back of the property. Price was dirt cheap so I wasn’t too surprised. One good thing was the mattress's were good.

The king size bed was comfortable but other then that it wasn’t to comfortable. The hotel window in the front doesn’t even have a lock. It’s super easy to get into. The carpet was ripped and it smelled like pee next to the bed. The air conditioner didn’t work at all either. There seems to be a lot of activity at night also

It was beautiful driving up to the front entrance and inside the lobby with all the natural wood but when I walked into my room I was immediately disappointed. The smell was off putting, like a dirty water smell. When I go to hotels I inspect the entire room. I touched the counters, top of TV, all the surfaces and all had dust. I check the couches and chair for bed bugs but found crumbs and lint, they also had stains. I checked the bedding which also had stains but I always bring my own bedding. The beds also had dust and crumbs on all corners. The bath tub was all cracked on the bottom and had hair in the drain. I found water on the floor in the bathroom and noticed one of the boards was lifting so I pulled it up and had nasty slime and lots of water damage, now the dirty water smell made since. I requested a new room. They didn’t fight me. I got into my new room and still had a weird smell but not like the first one. The bathroom was tile and wasn’t lifting. Sheets still stained as well as the couches but No dust. We were only staying 1 night so I made my kids stay on the beds with our own bedding. I walked around barefoot not thinking and OMG they became black. I had to clean them with my Clorox bleach wipes, I didn’t want to put my feel in the rub. Also, they have people that live here full time and literally make the place look like a CrackHead headquartered. It’s a shame because the building has so much potential but they just don’t care I guess. Best part was the park.

This hotel is decent for the price range. Rooms and hallways were clean, the bed was comfortable. But the whole place seemed a bit shabby - most corners were dinged and dented, carpet was very worn and looks like it is 40 years old. Breakfast was 1 small scoop of runny scrambled eggs and 2 greasy sausages. Plain bagel or toast, crappy coffee and some weird tasting substitute OJ. No fruit, not even canned. And they had beat up old folding tables with no tablecloths. Skip the breakfast and spring for McDonald's. Hotel is right next to I-10, so ask for a room that doesn't have a window facing the highway.

It looks like it belonged to a druggie. It was dirty microwave, didn't work Sink, didn't drain dirty sheets. No iron a c didn't work horrible experience.. This was not the suit that I was expecting to get, especially the rate i was charge, Was there for a family function and for my mom's chemo And to know that this was the hotel.i Was gonna bring my family too, was despicable.

The place looks nice from the outside and it was at a very convenient location which was by the freeway. Unfortunately the inside of the hotel room was very rundown and there were stains on everywhere (walls, curtains, sheets, pillow and towels). For what I paid for to stay here it was not worth it and I will not be staying here again.

The hotel room is spacious and clean but you can tell it’s quite old it needs to be maintained more because the old style is nice. bathroom is small and the toilet needs an upgrade. Walls are thin like i can hear upstairs and outside noises that I couldn’t sleep at night.

Hotel grounds were beautiful and check in staff were friendly and helpful. The room was absolutely disgusting. Couch had multiple stains, TV didn’t work, bathroom was dirty and curtains didn’t fully close and let a lot of light in. Sketchy people walking around parking lot and gate to enter rooms was wide open. Multiple cop guys spotted circling the parking lot.

The hotel is tucked away in a dark corner off the 10 fwy. None of the cute lights in the pictures were on and I drove past it by mistake. When I checked in I was told all of the elevators were broken so they were putting me in a first floor room. I was given vague directions as to where the room was and when I asked them to repeat the directions, I was told to “follow the signs”.
I checked in at 630pm and all of the parking lots were scarily dark. The walk in gates between the parking lot and hotel were broken and wouldn’t open with the provided room key. My date parked her car only to discover a broken glass pipe when she went to get out of the car.
In the room, there are two small 27” tvs that don’t have the same cable channels between the main room and the bedroom. So whatever you watched in the living area, you can’t watch in the bedroom. One of the wooden blinds was broken and wouldn’t shut, so you could partially see into the room from outside.
In the bathroom there was black mold in the shower making it unusable. The bed felt like they took the memory foam top off of a better bed and put it on a hard base.
We ended up leaving in the middle of the night because it was so uncomfortable. Even the security guard walking with his dog looked sketchy.
My date wanted to stop at the front desk and give them a word, but I know the workers don’t own or control the property. The owners should be ashamed though

I live staying here because it is never a single room always has a living room and a bedroom. Enough freedom to go to any room I want.

I never had a chance to even check in. I didn’t see anything about a 200 dollar deposit. I asked him if he could cancel my reservation and he said no because of 3rd party being expiedia. And I can’t get help from them either I need a refund or compensation for a new room

The room was dirty. The sheets were dirty. Our room look like it was under construction and they never cleared it to be booked. The room needed a lot of updating. The workers were very kind. I asked for new sheets and the housekeeper came and was very polite. Front desk was understanding when I called to complaint about the room having damage and the fact that I didn’t want to be charged for any of the damage already in the room. Would not recommend staying here.

Looks are deceiving here. The front of the hotel is gorgeous and looks artistic and old school classy. Once they sent me around the building to my room everything changed. Lots of beau up buildings, homeless around, shady people all over and felt unstable there. Glad I was there only for the night.

2 towels for 6 days, no housekeeping, broken Jacuzzi and dirty pool. Gates don't shut. Drug deals in parking lot and surrounding rooms. Mold in the shower, broken fridge door, door lock held in place with spackle. Elevator full of graffiti.
Front desk phone never answered. Please read the Google reviews before you book. Horrible!!!!

The property itself is beautiful it is well lit and there is overnight security. I believe the property had just been purchased as it is still under construction or remodeling. This would've been great to know before we made the reservation so we could've been better prepared upon arrival.
When we arrive to our room the walls were filthy the bathroom had not been cleaned and neither had the refrigerator or the microwave. We requested our room cleaned prior to the cleaning staff leaving for the day. Would appear to be the shift supervisor arrived with a scowl on her face, do not say one word upon examining the filthy locations and items instead just turned around and walked away. Minutes later cleaning staff arrived and cleaned the room.
Evening was cold and the heating unit did not work. We requested a space heater the following morning and an extra blanket. We only received the extra blanket.
The dining room is beautiful, however the meal selection is very limited. I would really like to come back and visit once the kitchen is completed.
One of the reasons that we chose this hotel was because of the steakhouse attached to it thinking it would be very useful if we did not want to go elsewhere for a meal. It is closed until notice. This also would've been nice to know prior to making our reservation.
The pool and the pool area is very beautiful. Had it not been too cold we would've definitely of made good use of the pool.
There are also permanent residents on the premises.

The hotel structure itself is a very nice building. The rooms looks like they tried to go through a partial update. The floors are lifting up the bathroom showers need to be redone entirely. It just really needs an overhaul. Very outdated.

Horrible... The security gates did not close, elevators were broken, trash, dead plants and cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. The lock on my door would not close so the only prevention was the small lock. Curtains and shower curtains were stained. I counted 10 abandoned vehicles in the parking lot. Mind you... The property details were noticed this morning. I arrived late and didn't notice the conditions of the parking lot and trash, etc. Truly run down.

The photos tell a very different story than the experience. The motel itself is an old, beautiful building. But being here at night is really creepy and feels unsafe, and the surrounding area by the freeway doesn't feel safe.
My towels were not clean and stained.

Staff was uninterested at check in and showed no interest as to why I was checking out after 10 minutes of being there. Upon arrival to the room I found several holes in the walls, bathroom faucet wasn’t even secured to the counter, mold on shower, shower floor stained and dirty, tub surround was peeling off. Balcony was unsafe. Outside the room was missing ceiling drywall, windows were broken out. Hotel refused a refund. I have never left a room that fast and have worked in hotels for 10 years. Expedia shouldn’t even be allowing this property to be reserved.

Beautiful building but owner doesn’t care about the condition of the rooms nor the hotel. Beds were very uncomfortable. I stayed at this hotel when it was embassy suite and it was very nice about 15 years ago. The furniture is so old😂 I will not be staying here again.

I arrived to the location and it was dark. 2 employees where in the front and didn't greet me. They were to busy worried about how a mirror looked in the lobby. The geltman that helped me was very dry, not friendly.

The well-taken online photos are deceiving. The property needs major upkeep, starting with the elevators. Unfortunately, I can't upload pictures here based on all the defects in my room, starting with a broken door lock that made my room feel unsafe, and don't get me started on the bathroom. I'm not a picky person, but when staying at a hotel, you expect a well-kept room that gets proper maintenance. The shower had cracks with paint being lifted around the drain, some of the caulking around the shower looked moldy, and the A/C ceiling vent was being held by two screws instead of four which made the panel sag. Here’s the honest truth, I checked out the same day I checked in.

Okay place to stay for a couple nights, people smoking, needs renovations.

Cheap and cheerful spanish style resort, rooms have been renovated but a few areas need work. Beds were comfortable but bathroom small and poky. Breakfast basic but in room coffee machine had not enough creamer. Room service was late and did not provide enough towels.
WiFi terrible - did not work in the room throughout entire stay and only worked in the lobby. Staff made no attempt fix it after being asked 4 times. Fitness room disgusting - had not been cleaned in months and trash bin overflowing. Overall - needs a lot of improvement to want to stay there again.
