It's located in the heart of Berkeley, easily within walking distance of both the downtown (which can arrived at via the BART) and the college campus. The staff were all great. I was a little disappointed by the free 'breakfast.' basically toast, oatmeal and other processed food. The second day they did have some fruit. The room was small and relatively clean but definitely showing its age. I enjoyed my stay.

Front desk staff gave wrong info about the guestroom phone when I called a few days before arrival. He said that the guestroom phone can be used to make local calls and perhaps long-distance calls. However, when I checked in, I found that the guestroom phone is not calling the front desk only and the phone/clock did NOT work.
There was also NO front desk staff before 7 am. So I had to call them later for them to email me the receipt because I checked out at about 6 am.
Breakfast was minimal and all items (except fruit) had very high sugar. There was also only one type of fruit each morning: either banana or apple.
