We booked this motel on the recommendation of a friend. The room was spacious and comfortable with an easy chair and a sofa. No desk however there was a round table but no chair to use at the table. The bathroom was small. Light switches in the bathroom were confusing. I believe we were the only guests there that night.

The room was clean except for the carpeted floor. The corners of the room had not been cleaned or vacuumed and there were dust, nail clippings and dead bugs. The heating system was very noisy and annoying. There was no free breakfast - so that needs to be changed in the advertisement. The bed was clean and comfortable. Front desk person not very friendly. I would not stay here again.

Terrible internet soooooo outdated and dirty

Friendly staff, conveniently located off the Highway exit.
Comfy bed, quiet night.

Staff was very nice. Ample hot water! A little worn and musty. Restaurant across the street is great.

Property has seen much better days. Quite old and becoming run down

Convenient to Apple Butter and was pet friendly. The desk clerk was very friendly.

Perfect location just outside of Berkeley Springs. Staff was kind and courteous. Bed was comfortable. Though the room was non-smoking, one could tell it used to be a smoking room for many many years once upon a time. Some upgrades are needed. For one overnight stay, it was spot-on.

Adjust your expectations; this is a serviceable 2.5-star motel. The people running it don't seem too happy about it, but it was clean (if dated) and affordable. There's a washer and dryer and it's close to the bike trails, so if you're on the C&O or WMRT trail, consider it. Good restaurant--the Potomac River Grill--right across the road.

Furniture in our room was new and the bed was comfortable. This is a quirky motel so be prepared. Good stay for the adventuresome. Great food across the street. Motel would seem a lot nicer if the owners would get rid of the old, moldy outdoor furniture. Some rooms appear to be long term renters.

The room was relatively tidy for an old motel, however, management clearly has decided not to invest in the place.
The mini fridge made an annoying ticking sound all night long, couldn't unplug it because I had food in it, luckily my cpap machine helped drowned out the noise (I did wake up twice, though).
The area is not very safe for cyclists, especially if you're doing the C&O trail, as it's surrounded by highways and roads with speeding drivers.

It's an older 1950s style motel, but the room was clean and it was in a good location near the towpath. They had a bike washing station, which was something the larger hotels wouldn't usually offer.
3.0
The shower and toilet were good but the room is very musty and needs to be aired out. Changing the 30 year old carpet would help. Some other cyclists we talked to said their room was the same.

One lamp did not work and the Wi-Fi was useless.

Old but updated motel located conveniently in Hancock for C&O bike trip. No bikes in room policy is inconvenient but they do offer storage in a garage. Finicky TV and window A/C unit often resulted in stuffy room at times was cause for 4/5 stars. Would stay here again.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Facility is very dated and our room wasn’t super clean (shower curtain was dirty/moldy) and the window screen was busted out. Our bed was very clean, however. As bikers it’s a climb up the hill to get there but still within walking distance of town and everything we needed. It served the purpose for us as thru-bikers.

small but very coinvent for my stay in the aera

This motel is clean, cozy, and the cats around the motel make it unique.

Love the old school look and feel.

The outside of the motel was definitely lacking. There are chairs to sit in outside but they were dirty and smelled bad. The room itself was very dated. The blinds didn't fully cover the windows, the bathroom definitely needed work. The tiles were missing on the floor and the shower wasn't very clean. However, the ac was new and worked well and the beds were comfortable. The TV was also wall mounted, large and new.

It was a clean room at a good price, but I booked a room for 4 adults but only received 2 bath towels and had to spend an extra $20.00 for 2 more. I also think the shower could be safer with non slip mat inside the bathtub.

We only stayed one night in the motel, but the lady who checked us in was very nice and helpful. Our room was clean, and very cute. We had a single bed and the bed was comfortable. The shower was hot. We really enjoyed the older feel of the building. It was very relaxed. My friend had a room with 2 queen beds and both of our rooms had a small pullout couch. We were exploring Berkeley Springs so the motel was very convenient and the price was wonderful. Would most definitely stay again.

Good value. The property is dated, but clean, comfortable, and located near the C&O Canal trail. A good restaurant is located direclty across the road. The staff has helpful and provided a hose for washing our bicycles and safe bike storage.

Nice retro motel adequate for an overnight stay.

The bed was clean and the air conditioning worked-I guess I shouldn’t have expected more for the price. Carpet and upholstery were stained. Plumbing made load noise.
I actually drove past thinking it was abandoned.

The room was cozy and comfy for me and my son. Not bad for the price, the beds were very soft. Overall a great experience.

We are very angry. We were driving from OH to VA and we needed to sleep, as we’d planned on driving straight through. We found the motel online, PAID for the room ($70) and got there only to find they were closed and we couldn’t check in. Called Expedia back for help and was told nothing they could do. We were out $70. Payment needs to not be accepted during closed hours, or it needs to be clearly advertised BEFORE the screen to pay for check in.

Location of this motel for my travel is good. Check In staff is friendly, courteous and professional.
Property is dated. My bedside bulb was burnt out. Shower faucet is old, tight and hard to operate for a smooth flow of water.

The office staff was not friendly even though the cleaning staff was nice.

The motel is old, outdated and kind of dirty. We did not feel comfortable in the dark, dank room. We wore shoes the whole time so as not to have to touch the floor. Fortunately the Potomac River Grille across the highway had great dinner and breakfast.

I hate to bash a business, but you do not want to stay here for any reason at all. Spend a few extra dollars and go elsewhere. Sink did not drain, and staff wanted us to clear it ourselves with a plunger or drain hair remover. The bathtub floor literally shifted under our feet and we had to engage our core muscles to keep balanced. Great for a workout, horrible for a hotel bathtub. One of our rooms did not have a screen door. The other room had a screen door, but no screen. Outside road noise woke me up a few times. The property is run down and they are obviously trying to cut costs by not doing repairs. Just stay somewhere else.

This motel is quaint but cozy in all the right ways. The bath tub is an actual bath tub, not the kind most hotels have that are great for bathing a chihuahua and not much else. Nice ambiance, felt safe, was energetically clean. I would definitely stay there again.

I booked a room here because I was biking the C&O and thought it was right off the C&O trail. However, you have to navigate through town to get there. Also, the owners don't let you take your bike into the room and they don't open the garage (where they let you store your bike) in the morning until 7am. That meant that I had to remove all of my belongings from my bike and re-attach them the next morning. Because I needed to get on the trail early the next morning, the owner reluctantly agreed to open the garage for me at 6:30am. It was a big pain, though. If I had to stay in Hancock in the future, I would choose the Super 8. Better yet, keep biking to the next town.

We were exhausted and this was a place to sleep. The bathroom was clean. The mattress was worn out. The air conditioning worked. There was a cracked window. The towels were nice. Service was good. We put our bikes in their garage.
3.0
Staff was friendly and accommodating, but the hours that the office was open were not acceptable and the furnishings of the rooms, while clean, were past their prime.

After telling staff I didn’t want anyone in my room. Maid came in anyway. There were no chain or double locks on door. You couldn’t lock the bathroom window and it’s on the first floor.

Blood stained sheets, food crumbs in bed, rude staff, yelled at us for having bikes in room which was already dirty up in arrival and bikes were clean. Extremely disappointed

After a long ride on the C/O trail The Hancock had the basics. It had the feel and scent of your grandmother’s place. Surroundings felt safe. Great restaurant directly across the street. Carpet and bathrooms could use an update. A/C unit was a strength of the room. The chairs outside the rooms were lovely.

close to my project, heater had an odor

We stayed at the Hancock Motel for 2 nights. It was a pleasant stay. Our only issue was the toilet chain kept sticking. Room was comfy and nice and warm.
