Clean, basic hotel.

The staff was very quick to respond to a couple issues we had. Great communication during our stay. Housekeeping was very friendly and helpful. I liked that there were only 5 units which provided a quieter environment and more privacy. Easy access getting into lockbox and room. It is gated and felt safe. It is in a good location to a lot of restaurants and a quick walk to the beach. We met some great people during our stay!

The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was one mattress about 12 inches thick. You could feel the springs. There is no room for chairs around the pool. The chairs provided outside each unit are quite uncomfortable. So there really is no space to lounge outside. They didn't have washcloths available and the towels, although clean, were stained and fraying. The sheets on the bed didn't match. The rooms felt like they could use a little TLC. The headboard had a big crack in it. The bathroom door needed to be wiped down. The mattress and bath towels need to be replaced. You could see on the ceiling where it was patched but not painted. Small details that make a big difference in the experience. This hotel felt like a place where you wouldn't spend a lot of time, just use it as a home base and go out each day. It's not a place where you would hang out and lounge by the pool. Clean and basic. I was kind of expecting that from the rate we paid but would opt for a little more luxury next time.

The hell of the stay as the worst two nights of our trip

Very bad location with the worst road full of potholes lacking of basic maintenance. The property is also very poorly maintained. If one turns on the lights in the kitchen, the lightings in bathroom and bedroom were automatically turned off likely due to overloading of electricity. We have to be dark for quite a while before magically turning on a coffee maker to accidentally turning on the lights of other rooms. Not sure how the electricity was set up in the rooms. The TV remote somehow can not adjust the volume and we have to be quiet to listen to the TV’s sound. The rate we paid shall have rooms with much better quality and service. My son stayed in another property and the faucet is not functional and no water in the kitchen.

Everything! We paid $707 for three persons for two nights, which was the worst experience in our 8-day trip in Costco Rica.

Overall was a good stay, comfortable enough.

Most days were very quiet at night which is important to my husband and I us, secure, and things were promptly taken care of by property management.

Didn't like the street in front of this location, need more light on the street, the mounting of the shower head must be changed, and the small space outside our unit (#4).

Great location and service!

Great location

The road in front of the property is very uneven and has many holes, but the property helped in filling the holes. This is important info that I would have liked to know in advance, so I wouldn’t get an unpleasant surprise arriving 6pm at night.

We were satisfied for what we got and for the price we have payed

It was ok for what we payed for our stay, we felt safe, the ac worked really good, we had a parking spot and everything was really nearby.

The street in front was a bit bad and the pool would need a bit cleaning now and then

Unreliable and untrustworthy management. Do not recommend this hotel.

We do not recommend this hotel. We originally found this hotel on Airbnb. We have issues with booking this hotel on Airbnb. When we selected the unit and proceeded to the payment, the page was showing that the unit is not available anymore. When I contacted the host, the host sent us a private link on Airbnb, which was more expensive than the advertised unit on Airbnb. We found the host unreliable. Then we found the hotel on Booking.com. After reading the reviews online, we decided to book Unit 2. When we arrived we were told that Unit 2 is already rented and we have to stay at Unit 3. This has never happened where we book a unit and we are asked to move to another unit. This is a hotel/villa and is different from hotels with just rooms. Although the units are similar, they are different in platform, sizes, quality of amenities, etc. Although the staff was very helpful and considerate, we DO NOT recommend this hotel due to its unreliable and untrustworthy management.

Amazing stay at an incredible value. 11/10!

The location was perfect, central to everything you want to do/eat in the city. can walk to literally everything. The room is huge and love that there is a kitchen and different areas. AC works great and hot water in the shower. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had an easy stay. Answered any any all questions I had from how to get to and from the city, helped me get to urgent care, find a pharmacy, and over all was amazing. Can’t say enough amazing things about the staff. There is also a neighbor cat who hangs out that is super friendly and is a nice addition to the place.

The bed isn’t the most comfortable and the pillows on the bed are massive. But from talking to other people in town the pillows are common so that will happen almost anywhere you stay. The towels are also on the older side.

The location was great. Super close to some of the best restaurants we ate at and a short 7-10 minute walk to the beach.

It would’ve been nice to have more towels, especially beach towels.

Superb

The location was excellent, close to restaurants and the beach. Self check in was easy and there was parking at the property which was appreciated.

the shower kept making a high pitch noise due to water pressure. During the night we kept getting up to flush the toilet to resolve this issue.

If it was a little cheaper I would of stayed here the whole time!

The pool was really nice and clean. Went in it everyday. Super quiet and low key. Rooms were very well air conditioned, super clean and had all amenities you need to feel right at home.

Personally the pillows on the bed were too big and fluffy. The bed itself was a bit lived in and springy.

Very cute and cozy hidden gem in the heart of Tamarindo

The hotel was very clean and neat and very cute. It was close to the main road and shops and restaurants and the beach. The manager was great and very quick to respond and help.

probably the only negative thing was the price. we paid a very high price for 2 nights but we enjoyed our stay.

Gorgeous boutique hotel, would stay again!

Hotel Gardenia is a boutique hotel with 5 vila-style rooms. We stayed in room number 2, which I highly recommend, as it is detached from the other rooms, so it's like having a little airbnb to yourself. This is also the case with room number 1. The room is spacious and clean. It is equipped with a small kitchen (hobb, microwave, sink and full sized fridge freezer). The living room has a tv with youtube and other apps. It also has a dining table. The bathroom was nice and clean, with space to hang towels, which is always appreciated. The bedroom is modern, equipped with AC and a spacious wardrobe area and plenty of hangers. The swimming pool is of good size and the night lights look beautiful on. Located within 10 minutes from Tamarindo centre and 3 minutes away from the Saturday Market and the Tamarindo Night Market, but away from the loudness of the crowds. Location 10/10!

The outdoor furniture was very dirty, it needs to be cleaned in order for guests to be able to use it. The swimming pool was also dirty and the water was very cold. We cleaned the swimming pool ourselves with the leaf net the was on the side.
