The semi-open air onsen bath. Water quality good and bath size good.
The food is wonderful - breakfast and dinner.
Staff members professional and cheerful. Very helpful.
The general environment. It is just next door to the historical Imperial Villa. Well worth a visit to learn about the Taisho period.
Beds are comfortable. Room decor is almost straight from the Taisho period, which I absolutely loved. All 3 rooms we occupied were very charming in their own ways. Though from the same category or rooms, each one is slightly different.
Housekeeping staff worth mentioning as they are very efficient and considerate. They found out after the first day that I enjoy sparkling water and put two bottles in my room. Really appreciated that.
Ryokan wear - especially the very thin tabi socks and sandals which are not suitable for very cold winter weather. Guests have to walk outdoors - from their rooms to the main building for meals, as well as to the public onsen facility. The outer gown of this resort wear strongly resembles a bathrobe which I and my two Japanese friends find slightly embarrassing.
