Cinema and sauna

Calling this property “bad” would honestly be a compliment. We have stayed at many properties in the United States, but this was by far one of the most disappointing experiences we have ever had. I genuinely cannot understand the positive reviews. Perhaps some of those guests have never experienced a proper cinema system or a sauna, because apart from those two things, there is very little positive to say about this property. The first and biggest problem is that the listing is misleading. The description gives the impression that the entire property is yours. In reality, you are staying in the basement of someone’s home — essentially a basement apartment. There are also photos showing a swimming pool, which naturally creates the impression that guests have access to a pool. There is no pool available to guests staying in the apartment. We asked about the pool several times and were repeatedly told that they would check and get back to us. Nobody ever did. The attitude of the host was another major problem. Instead of feeling welcomed as paying guests, we felt as though we were being given orders from the moment we arrived. When you enter, you are confronted with a long list of rules, including the ridiculous rule that you cannot enter the basement after 8:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 PM on weekends. And when you leave, you are given another list of instructions: put the dishes in the dishwasher and run it, clean the bathrooms, make the beds, take out the trash, and so on. The tone and attitude of the host made us feel less like paying guests and more like servants staying in someone else’s basement. If you do not know how to host guests or do not want to treat them like guests, why decide to rent out your basement in the first place? The double standard was particularly frustrating. We were expected to follow strict rules, yet the owners hosted their own guests upstairs throughout the entire weekend.

I loved the location starting out, beautiful neighborhood. When you walk in, it’s bright and refreshing. All the seating and beds were super comfortable. The theater was easy to use and very enjoyable. The space was great for four people. Our host communicated very very well, we had everything we needed for the duration of our stay. Will recommend and definitely would love to return when in the area again! Thank you K&D!
