About this cottage rental
Escape to Artemis Cottage: a luxurious safari retreat in the Texas Hill Country. Nestled on a sprawling 3,700-acre ranch, Artemis Cottage offers an extraordinary getaway blending luxury, adventure, and unparalleled wildlife encounters. Enjoy breathtaking views and the unique opportunity to see wildlife in their natural environment. And included with a stay of 3 nights or more you'll get a once in a lifetime encounter handfeeding our wonderful tower of friendly resident giraffes. You'll be able to pet our friendly African white rhino appropriately named Tank and see Imperial (Grevy's) zebras. All of these are on the endangered list. This is all part of a 1.5-2 hour tour of the ranch. Where else can one feed and interact with giraffes or feed a white rhino. Unfortunately for 2 night stays we charge an additional $250 for the tour and feeding.

What a great host and property management. We had an issue when we arrived and once we called the host his people responded in about 20 minutes. The safari made this stay stand apart!! Wouldn’t think twice about staying here again!

WOW!!! What an amazing property and experience!! The cottage was very nice and situated on a hill with excellent views from both the pool and a second floor balcony. It was very clean and fully stocked with everything you would need. The property itself is amazing. We woke up to turkey strutting right outside our door along with huge oryx grazing right outside our window while an endangered zebra came walking up the road. On our hikes we saw herds of wildebeasts frolicking in a field, axis deer, fallow deer, watusi, eland, red stag, sable, rare blonde bison and several different types of gazelle. If you enjoy hiking or biking on a beautiful property and seeing animals from all over the world, incuding some very rare and endagned ones, this is the place for you. Ty, the host could not have been nicer and more gracious. He was wonderful and was kind enough to take us to meet Tank the rino and feed the giraffes, which was amazing!! Everything is first class and Ty's attention to detail shows through in every part of the ranch, including the grounds, the main lodge, a beutiful hilltop chapel and an incredible giraffe encounter area that is being built and will open soon. My company has taken clients hunting on several very nice ranches and this was by far the nicest I have seen. The 5-stand sporting clays and pistol range looks like it would be a blast. Also, Courtney cooked us a meal one night and the steak was one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend!!!

Based on our experience of having stayed at several hundred usually higher-end VRBOs, this one ranks at the top 1 %. Most impressive is the caliber of the owner Ty , and his staff. They go above and beyond in helpfulness, technical expertise, and dedication. There are other safari ranches you could go to, but I doubt you would find a more professional one. One would conceivably go to an actual safari, but I doubt animals from different continents would be as well represented on the menu and seemingly treated as nicely. Our favorite is the Grevy's zebra, which is endangered. This is a gem. It would get harder to book once words get out. Maybe we should not mention that they are also fun and charismatic people, the various activities and tours provided are enjoyable and winsomely presented. We, including our son who is in his 20s, had a blast but in a blissful way.

Was the perfect place for our family. The grandkids loved the pool, hot tub and the tour. Feeding the Rhino and Giraffes are something we will not soon forget. Ty and his team are the best hosts. They left us with everything we needed to have smores with the family while we watched zebras and other wildlife walk by the cabin. Mountain bikes were provided where we could explore the 3,800 acre ranch at our leisure. Highly recommend staying here, and we will be back again!
