About this house rental

Enjoy this unique home including a huge 1930 fireplace in the original cabin living room now remodeled plus a separate library cabin at this wooded and rocky sanctuary, in a historic 1920's neighborhood. Our original stone fireplace in the once "cabin" living room for cozy nights along with lovely remodeled kitchen, dining/TV room, 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths & office space with sky lights for the deep bathtub and in the open office/desk space for uninterrupted virtual work! Close to Historic DNTN & Evergreen Lake, World Class Skiing, Red Rocks Amphitheater & Echo Mountain family skiing just up up Squaw Pass Road.
The space
Best of the old and the new … with a ninety year old chimney with the wood stove in the living room and a cozy queen sofa bed for fireside sleeping! Off the living room is the beautifully remodeled kitchen and a full bath. Dining area for six is off the kitchen and family / TV room with southern lighting. Dining for six is also on the south facing, partially shaded balcony and only steps away from the fully stocked kitchen. The upstairs has the primary bedroom with clerestory windows and full sunlit bathroom with a generous deep tub and heating in the tiled floor. It feels like bathing in a treehouse on such a wooded acre! A second bedroom with a double and a single bed as a bunk set up plus a roll top desk to serve a second closed door office space. The open space of the upstairs has an office set up with a double futon couch plus office supplies and equipment to share. The mountains of Evergreen rarely need AC and there are three ceiling fans to move air, summer and winter. Every room has windows to connect you to the tall ponderosa, spruce, aspen trees and rock out-croppings plus the frequent wildlife, distant views and open skies! Also, on the acre property is a Little Library that was an even older historic cabin when Squaw Pass road was being built in the 1920s.
Guest access
Plenty of parking space in the open circle driveway area; even enough for a camper. The key will be made available to you in block box set up to let yourself in via the front door. Plenty of solar lighting on the walkway and three steps should you arrive late. A tree fell in the font yard on December 15 and is gradually being cleared as weather permits. Access is unimpeded.
Other things to note
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater is only 17 miles and 30 minutes drive, Echo Mountain Ski Resort is only miles and 20 minute drive. further up the same mountain pass. The yard is Evergreen natural, meaning it has wildflowers and wildlife and rock outcroppings and over seven different seating areas to enjoy the serene setting. Minimal window coverings so you can enjoy the outdoors when you are indoors, including large skylights and many clerestory windows.

Charming house and grounds w/abundant wildlife. Well stocked kitchen with spices and cookware/bakeware. Lots of natural light throughout the home. Lovely outside deck w/tables and chairs. Large washer and dryer is so convenient to have. Lots of history to the property. The living room has a wonderful working fireplace. There is a library cabin on the property that is so cute - lots of dvd’s, puzzles, and books to enjoy.

This mountain cottage is clean and comfortable, with character and nice light in a very pretty setting.Kitchen is nice and well-appointed. Hosts are accessible, warm and helpful. The wood stove fireplace and the heated bathroom floor upstairs makes things cozy. We enjoyed our visit and would be glad to return but a couple of caveats for others to consider: The en suite bathroom was great for a couple, but would be less ideal for guests in the other upstairs bedroom (second bathroom is downstairs). The windows and skylights look out on pretty scenery, but be ready for morning light to enter the bedroom pretty early!

We enjoyed our 4 ½-day stay at this “cozy spot at Rocky foothills.” The house was fully furnished with all necessary items. We lacked nothing. The quiescent environment in and outdoors made for the much-appreciated silent retreat that further fortified our 41-year matrimony. Stores like Safeway for groceries, Walmart for necessities and Starbucks for cold comfort are a quick, short drive from the house. We completed a puzzle together, made and took our meals together in the house, watched a few old movies, read, edited catechism material for future instruction and prayed together undisturbed and without pressing concerns. The bed, linen and covers were perfect, the evening especially serene and the mornings beautiful as the sun rose over the mountains and through the forest while birds chirped the dawn. There is an especially nice and cozy library cabin operating as a book exchange a la take a book, share a book basis on the property. A handful of the authors among the hundreds of books include Dante Alighieri, Michel de Montaigne, James Michener and Shakespeare. They make for great reading. Communication with the homeowner was consistent and especially cordial and helpful. We were assured of their prompt response if the need arose which never did.

The place was great. Quiet, mountain stay, but only a few minutes from town.
