I had a very pleasant stay at Ap Lei Chau hotel in Hong Kong with my family. The location was very convenient, especially with the hotel being close to the South Island MTR Line, which made getting around the city much easier.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it a great place to relax after a busy day exploring Hong Kong. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay, and I would happily consider staying here again!

I really struggled to decide how to review this hotel. It has so many good points but one issue that made it problematic. So, the good points first.
Brilliant location in a quiet and very authentic (as opposed to touristy) neighborhood, a cheap and short boat ride across from Aberdeen but also a very quick walk to the metro.
Really nice little coffee shop downstairs that does a nice breakfast.
Good amenities in the hotel. Even a reading room.
Really nice staff.
Good value for money in a famously expensive city.
This issue sort of is the hotel's fault but also sort of isn't. Bedbugs.
The room we had booked had live bedbugs on the sheet plus a faded bloodstain at the foot of the sheet, which I think had survived washing rather than being sheets not changed. (The linens were good at this hotel.) The beds in this two bedroom apartment were on the floor, and initially I thought that might have been part of the problem.
However, they were normal hotel beds in the second room they moved us to, and the next morning I realised those were dead bedbugs next to the sink.
The final room they moved us to did not seem to have bedbugs but I spent the rest of our stay worrying about it. What is clean in the rooms is very clean but down the edges of things, such as behind bathroom doors or in corners, is the sort of place that bedbug eggs can live.
It had been very wet recently, and warm, which is what bedbugs like. A sign at the airport warned passengers that bags may have been sprayed due to an outbreak of bedbugs, so it's not necessarily the hotel's fault that they are there, but I think they could and should be doing more to make sure they nip it in the bud. For example, hotel staff told me that empty rooms get sprayed for bugs once a week, which is fine but what if rooms are booked back to back? The second room they put us in, with the dead bedbugs around the sink, had not been sprayed recently as it had had people staying in it. Two issues there. First is that spraying was overdue, so I could not feel confident that more bugs might not be hatching from eggs while I stayed there, and the second was that the room was not fully cleaned, so the dead bugs were still next to the sink.
Staff were very helpful and moved us to other rooms but that was dealing with the fallout from the problem, not preventing bedbugs from becoming a problem.
