About this villa rental
Location and Surrounding Area
Nestled in the serene Tuscan countryside, this magnificent property is ideally located for exploring Tuscany’s cultural highlights and most spectacular natural wonders. Situated in the heart of Chianti, just a few kilometers from the charming cities of Florence and Siena, Villa Bellavista is the perfect base for day trips to Tuscany’s most beautiful towns and offers a unique opportunity to admire its iconic landscapes while soaking up the region’s incredibly rich historical and cultural heritage.
The vineyards in this picturesque part of Tuscany produce the grapes used in the eponymous Chianti and Chianti Classico, world-famous red wines. The Chianti region features historic olive groves, honey-colored stone farmhouses, dense forests, charming Romanesque churches, Renaissance villas, and imposing stone castles built in the Middle Ages by Florentine and Sienese warlords. Chianti’s northern area lies in the province of Florence and is a popular day trip from that city.
In less than an hour by car, you can reach the walled town of San Gimignano, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval villages. As you crest the nearby hills, the town’s fourteen towers rise up like a medieval Manhattan. Today, not even the plague would deter the throngs of summer day-trippers, drawn by a palpable sense of history and the enchanting rural setting. The historic center has been designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site, and strolling through its streets will make you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time.
In one hour by car, you can reach Florence, a treasure trove of art with an astonishing contemporary vibe. Beyond its extraordinary artistic heritage—a testament to its centuries of civilization— the best way to enjoy Florence is to stroll along the riverside avenues at sunset, or to get lost among the city’s myriad alleyways in the bohemian Oltrarno or the narrow little streets of San Niccolò, where it feels as though you’ve stepped back in time amid its centuries-old walls.
In just one hour by car, you can also reach the medieval town of Siena. Its ancient red-brick buildings, the scallop-shaped main square, Piazza del Campo, and the Cathedral Square—dominated by the zebra-striped Duomo—make it an absolute must-see for anyone traveling to Tuscany. Essentially an open-air museum celebrating Gothic architecture, Siena boasts centuries-old monuments that have preserved both their medieval forms and their exceptional art collections, offering plenty to marvel at.
The property is also just a few kilometers from Volterra, one of Tuscany’s most dramatic hilltop towns. Despite its many attractions, Volterra attracts fewer tourists than other Tuscan towns, so you can expect to share its winding stone streets with locals and explore its ancient sites without crowds. Founded by the Etruscans and surrounded by medieval walls, Volterra has a remarkable historic center filled with fascinating Roman ruins, medieval buildings, and alabaster workshops.
Villa Bellavista is 44 km from Florence Amerigo Vespucci International Airport, 90 km from Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport, and 308 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Greve in Chianti is 8 km away, Vitigliano is 10 km away, San Casciano in Val di Pesa is 18 km away, Castellina in Chianti is 19 km away, San Gimignano is 42 km away, Florence is 42 km away, Siena is 61 km away, Volterra is 65 km away, Arezzo is 80 km away, Pisa is 95 km away, and Chianciano Terme is 131 km away.
