The attention and retention to the details of an Historic Hotel. Beautifully cared for.
The bar was wonderful as was the bartender.
The only thing was the bed was just a bit too soft.

I always enjoy staying at the Gadsen. Clean, comfortable and friendly stay in a reasonably well maintained classic hotel in the heart of walkable Douglas. Desk, cleaning, bar and restaurant staff all go the extra mile.
The tap water tastes as you'd expect from an old building. Bring a gallon of water if you don't want to buy small bottles at the desk.

The bees were comfortable, the building is historic and beautiful
Cleanliness. It is need of repairs. Obviously I knew it needed major renovation but was surprised to see it even needed paint touch up all over the rooms. Carpets cleaned or better yet removed. Smoking was clearly visible in and on the property even when I was told specifically there was no smoking allowed on the premises and that a charge would be occurred if there was smoking. I saw ash try’s in the terrace and one was full of cigarette butts. And I could smell old smoke.
