Capsule Hotel - Lucerne Old Town

Practical, safe, clean and right in the center of town walking distance to shops and restaurants. Very secure too for solo travelers. I loved the breakfast options and common seating areas.

The bed mattress was a little too narrow/flat..they provided a pillow and duvet cover but personally wasn't comfortable enough for me.

First capsule hotel experience. As a woman traveling alone, I was very impressed at the security: need your phone to unlock your shared room and to separately unlock your capsule. The capsules have a large mirror inside, creating the illustion that the space is bigger, so i didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Shower room and toilets were immaculate and reminded me of an expensive upscale gym with fresh floor towels provided and good quality shampoo and shower gel in each shower. Lounge room and dining were spacious and cozy. Community refrigerator, water dispenser and kettle, and community activities for solo traveling looking to socialize are organized almost every day. Ear plugs are provided but i didn't find them necessary as everyone was so respectful....socializing was left for the lounge and rooms with capsules were respected for sleeping.

Not enough locker storage for everyone. i believe 2 lockers were broken and could not be locked. Maybe a few 1/2 size lockers can be added for those with less luggage. Also the hallway with the locker space smelled musty like feet and sweat. Maybe some kind of natural air freshner on the wall that have auto timer for spraying can be used, or keep the windows open at the end of the hallway for ventilation. It would have been nice if there were hooks in the open storage shelves in the rooms. I came in after a day's hike and it would have been nice to have a space to hang my clothes and my shower towel out to dry.

Location was excellent. Check in was easy and the staff were helpful.

I found it a little difficult to get in and out of the pod but thats more down to my age than anything else. It is what it is and overall I enjoyed the experience as its something very different.
