Newly added is a full movie theater in the basement complete with a huge projector screen, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. We even have our own pebble ice machine for all you ice lovers! Curl up with a nice drink and unwind after a long day in the city. There is also a small gym in the basement with free weights and a Peloton style stationary bike. Guests are welcome to all common spaces and have space set aside in the cupboards and/or fridge for personal food items if needed. **Please remember this is city living thus there is traffic (both vehicle and foot traffic) on the road and it can be noisy at times. We have quite noise machines to block out any noise should the city noise bother you.** For those driving, there is on-street parking available around the property (on Quincy Street, Perth Street, Fayston Street, etc). Private, on-site/off-street parking is available for an extra fee. There are a bunch of different options! We are not directly downtown but we are only about 2 miles south of the city. There are tons of different types of transportation so it totally just depends on what you prefer. 1) Obviously, the easiest is Uber. Depending on traffic, Uber will take you: - 8-10 minutes to Longwood Medical (Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, or Boston Children's Hospital) - 9-11 minutes to Boston Common/Public Gardens - 10-12 minutes to Fenway - 10-12 minutes to South Station Bus Terminal/Metro Depot (easily connect to all parts of the city) - 10-12 minutes to Chinatown - 10-12 minutes to North End (Italian District) - 12-14 minutes to Mass General Hospital (MGH) - 14-16 minutes to Boston Logan Airport (please see tunnel construction closures that may add additional time to this depending on time of day and week vs weekend!) - 15-17 minutes to M.I.T. - 17-20 minutes to Harvard University (main campus) - 18-20 minutes to Harvard Business School (HBS) 2) There are also several public transportation options, beginning with the MBTA bus system. There is a bus stop about 100 feet from our house which will take you to many places including the Nubian Bus station or the Ruggles bus station (less than 1 mile from Fenway park). These stations have connections to buses to just about every other area of the city. - 25-30 minutes to Longwood Medical (Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, or Boston Children's Hospital) - 25-30 minutes to South Station Bus Terminal/Metro Depot (easily connect to all parts of the city) - 30-35 minutes to Boston Common/Public Gardens - 30-35 minutes to Chinatown - 35-40 minutes to Fenway - 40-45 minutes to North End (Italian District) - 40-45 minutes to Mass General Hospital (MGH) - 45-60 minutes to Boston Logan Airport (please see tunnel construction closures that may add additional time to this depending on time of day and week vs weekend!) - 35-40 minutes to M.I.T. - 50-55 minutes to Harvard University (main campus) - 50-55 minutes to Harvard Business School (HBS) 3) In addition to the bus, there is also the metro (loving called "The T" in Boston). The closest metro stop to us is Upham's Corner, which is on the Fairmount (Purple) line. It is about a 12-14 minute walk. This is only two stops away from South Station! From there you can take the Red Line downtown, the silver bus to the airport, commuter trains to NYC or anywhere along the East Coast, as well as access the bus depot which has both local buses and buses to other parts of the state, NYC, etc. 4) Lastly, there are two CitiBike (blue bikes) stations close to the house. One is about 6-7 minute walk and the other is about 8-9 minute walk from our place. These can be rented for less than $3 a ride, or $10 for unlimited rides for the day! If the weather is good, this is a perfect way to explore the city, bike through Fenway, glide through the gardens, etc. Biking times are dependent on a person's fitness level and speed but the easiest areas to access by bike from our place are Fenway, Longwood medical area, and South End. Harvard and MIT are across the river so would be best to take a bus into town and then get a bike from there (more in point #5) If you choose this option, PLEASE be careful. Use bike lanes when possible and stay alert. Boston drivers are not known for being courteous... 5) Of course, all of these options can also be mixed and matched. Some people like to take an Uber to the metro stop (3 minutes) and then take the metro from there. Others like to take the bus downtown and then rent Citi Bikes and explore from there. Overall, there are lots of transportation options and the way you choose to navigate the city will depend on your activity level, convenience, budget, etc. Whichever you choose, please do so safely and plan ahead. Traffic can be extremely variable in Boston depending on the time of the year, time of day, events in the city (Red Sox games, etc.), or construction. Each of these aforementioned transportation options can be affected by this traffic so make sure to plan accordingly so you can have the best time possible while in Boston! :) We are excited to welcome you to our home! We hope you find your stay in Boston to be memorable!
