The apartment is super charming and was as described in the post. Bedrooms and living room are huge. The kitchen was very clean and had everything you would need to cook a meal (we cooked breakfast daily). Minor hiccup while we were there, but John responded promptly and appropriately and all was well. Balcony off kitchen very cute (but winter so we didn’t use..). The location is very good - just off a shopping street - VERY short walk to Duomo. It was quiet with no restaurants/bars that we heard (winter time). Heat for the apartment and hot water worked well. I would stay here again. We had two adults and three teenage kids and it was plenty of space!

Five stars for this sweet apartment, despite a booking mix-up that could have been disastrous. I booked the apartment six months in advance, so I don't know how this happened, but on our first night there, another family walked in the front door, giving us quite a surprise. I immediately called John, the owner, who was always easy to reach and very nice and apologetic. He said there had been a double booking and he would help the other family find a new place. So we weren't put out, but we felt bad for the other family who had arrived after a long journey and had to scramble at 9 pm for a new place to stay. There's really no excuse for this, and I saw in another review that it had happened before. John said he is no longer working with the agency that double-booked, so hopefully it won't happen again. And other than that, our stay was perfect. The kitchen is big and easy to use (though could use some staples like olive oil and sugar), and the living room was pretty and comfortable. The room with two twin beds was the prettiest. The primary room was on the small side but just fine. Our family of four all showered in the primary bathroom because the second bathroom, off the living room, had an open shower that would saturate the toilet and most of the bathroom floor. If we had been two couples traveling together it would have been more of a problem, but as a family, we were happy to share the primary shower. Steep stairs could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues.

We found the apartment just as listed. It’s large with room to relax and rewind after a day of sightseeing. While it is listed as the second floor, keep in mind Italy calls the first level floor 0. Getting into the property was simple; the host provided good instructions. The apartment is accessed through a locked door to the street followed by a locked gate to the staircase. The stairs up to the apartment have motion sensor lights that provide ample lighting for safety. The stone steps do get very slippery when wet so beware when the cleaning staff mops the entry and stairway! The apartment itself was secure, and we felt very safe during our 3 night stay. The bathrooms are small as are most in Italy. Towels were large and comfy which is always appreciated. A hairdryer is provided. The second bathroom functions more as a half-bath; it is a “wet” bathroom with a shower head but no contained shower stall. The apartment has a large coat closet at the entry and an armoire in the second bedroom for hanging clothes. The kitchen is equipped with cookware for making meals; groceries can be picked up at a small store nearby. The small, private terrace was nice to have. The location was perfect with piazzas, restaurants, shops, and our friends’ hotel a short walk away. The street from which you access the apartment is clean and we felt safe walking back late at night. The price was comparable to a small hotel room in the same area but offers comforts of space and privacy.

The apartment is really nice, spacious, confortable, located in central Florence, walking distance to all museums and places to visit.
It was easy to book and exchange with the owner despite a last minute booking.
Overall definitely a place to recommend in Florence.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about my stay in Florence at this beautiful apartment. Property manager John has been absolutely amazing from start to finish. My daughter is studying this fall in Florence and I wanted to have it for an extended period of time and invite friends for a little getaway from the states. The apartment was clean, beds were incredibly comfortable, the outside space overlooking the Bargello Palace was just beautiful. Tons of space in the apartment and it was close to everything! I could not have chosen a better apartment to stay at for three weeks! It felt like home away from home. If you are looking for a comfortable space with a truly wonderful owner, you have found the right place! Don’t be afraid to just pop in to some of the restaurants right near the apartment… You don’t have to have a reservation everywhere in Florence. 5 stars for sure!!!!

We stayed for nearly a week in this central location. The apartment is well equipped, with comfy beds, nice linens, pretty kitchenware, hot showers, and a lovely terrace to sit in the mornings and plan each day. We were able to walk everywhere we went, including the bus station for one day trip to a vineyard south of the city. John left clear instructions and helpful suggestions. It felt like a real privilege to be able to stay in the heart of such a culturally and historically rich city.

We recently stayed in John's apartment in Florence. The apartment was just beautiful. Well maintained, clean, up-to-date with decor, comfortable beds and quality linens and towels.
The location was fantastic. Just a few blocks from all of the significant landmarks of Florence. There is a bakery/cafe and small grocery store just around the corner as well as many restaurants and gelato that you can image.
John, the property owner, is a fantastic communicator. I really appreciated his promptness to my messages as well as his attention to detail on information relative to our stay.
For those considering staying here, there is no lift and the apartment is on the 3rd floor. If you have any member that has significant mobility issues, they might be challenged.
Our age ranged between 55 and 68. We all managed the stairs just fine but just want to provide a heads up. The apt, location and view was worth the extra steps.
If I find myself again in Florence, I for sure would see if this apartment was available for a repeat stay.

Our month long holiday was made very special by this lovely apartment. It is in wonderful location and John was very responsive.

It was very clean and we had a cleaning service every week.

The apartment is clean, well appointed and nicely decorated. Steps from the Duomo and the Uffizi, it was the perfect getaway from the heat when we couldn’t walk anymore. The kitchen and small balcony are adorable. We enjoyed cooking breakfast before heading out for the day, and some wine at night with cheese. The owner, John, was very helpful and responsive, with good recommendations for various meal options. Only 2 things to note: the apartment is on the third floor with no elevator and the bldg is located in the historic zone, so need to follow John’s suggestion for the garage to avoid fines if you drive in.

We absolutely loved our stay in this gorgeous apartment. It is in a wonderful location, we walked to all of the sights, including to and from the train station easily. The neighborhood has wonderful shops, cafes, and restaurants. Our favorite part was the terrace and the beautiful view. We would definitely stay here again. John is a wonderful host, he made everything very easy.

This apartment was absolutely wonderful. John was a superior host, very friendly, available, and quick to respond to any challenges. The apartment is very spacious and worked out well for myself and my guests. My stay was 1 month, and happy to say that my temporary home couldn't have been better. I would definitely stay here again.

This apartment is very beautiful, well decorated, and comfortable for a family of four. The kitchen is well stocked and having a washing machine is a bonus. We enjoyed having the small patio to sit and relax on.
The location is very centrally located and we were easily able to walk everywhere easily including Boboli Gardens, Uffizi Gallery, and the Ponte Vecchio. The neighborhood is quite lively and chocked full of wonderful restaurants.
One thing to be aware of is the stairs leading up to the apartment are not lit at night. I found it a bit odd since there are several flights of stairs to ascend.

Such a lovely stay and John was amazingly accommodating with a late departure. The apartment is close to everything, yet very quiet. Wisteria terrace with view of Bargello is dreamy. Thank you!

I highly recommend this flat! Location was perfect. Central to everything! Host was very helpful with everything from arrival to the flat to small details once checked in. Close to great restaurants and sight seeing activities. We had myself, my wife and mother in law and the flat was comfortable for all. Well equipped kitchen and nice balcony!

Unfortunately I give this 'listing' one star because I never got to stay here due to a double booking.
I booked months in advance and somehow the unit was double booked and because the other guests arrived the day before my stay - they got to stay.
John was very helpful and gave us a full refund but, unfortunately the apartment that he moved us to was not to our liking and we had to spend a great amount of money to book a hotel during Easter week.
I am not sure how this happened and how he did not realize that two families paid him for the same week - but, it was very upsetting and wasted an evening and morning of our trip - moving all around and then having to find a hotel and move again.
I briefly saw the inside of the apartment and it looked exactly as shown in the photos and the location was great.
John was a great communicator while booking and paying. This is why it confused me so much as to how he missed the double booking.

What an amazing time our family at Johns apartment in Florence. It was in walking distance to everything from museums to shopping, water, and the best restaurants. My husband, my two twenty-something daughters and I stayed six nights in this beautiful, perfectly situated apartment. The apartment was impeccable, perfectly decorated, and an easy walk to every attraction or amenity you might want. I would recommend this apartment to anyone! The only minor glitch was as we arrived, late at night, we had a little trouble finding the address (the numbering on the buildings threw us off) and we couldn't initially find the light switch for the building's hallway lights so we climbed the stairs using our phone flashlights. By the next day we were pros and it was not an issue. Would return here in a heartbeat!

The location is close to everything and the recommendations provided were A+ especially the cafe down the way. John is so kind and understanding when I, a frazzled mom, made an error in booking. I am a very picky traveler and this property is amazing! The apartment is super clean, beautifully appointed, lovely in every way. The host has a keen eye for design elements in every room, even the front door is sophisticated. AC is great especially in the twin bedroom and kitchen. It was a bit hot when we were there and the living room unit did not perform that great but it is the largest room. We were comfortable the entire stay. Parking at the suggested parking garage was perfect and easy. The host has a welcome binder that provides helpful information. The stairs to get to the unit - they are steep but wider than I envisioned so that was helpful when dragging luggage up and down. I’m pretty fit but my quads burned a wee bit at the last flight going up. But, this is an old building in an old city center. There are light switches to illuminate the dark stairs. The one at the entry is labeled with the word “light” written in Italian. So give it a flip up and you’ll have light. It appears to be on a timer so no need to turn off when at the top. The top light switch is on the wall as you exit the apartment and enter the hallway. Kind of easy to miss so keep an eye out for it. I makes a difference - esp if jet lagged. Overall we loved it and we will use again and will happily share this gem of a find with others.

The property was everything that we had hoped for and more. The only thing I would consider when booking is that there were 44 stairs to our flat. It might be challenging for some but if you can manage that it is worth staying here. The place was well stocked and our host was great. He responded quickly and answered all our needs. The view from the terrace is amazing and you are only a few blocks from the Duomo. A nice stroll for an evening gelato.

We are a family of five traveling from North Carolina and John’s apartment was perfect for us - beautiful, spacious and spotless! The beds were comfortable and the apartment was nice and quiet. We were so thankful for the air conditioning being that we were in Florence during the heat wave 98+ every day.
