You will likely be delighted with the frequent visits of the howler monkeys, as well as occasional iguanas! The private, gated property boasts two buildings with a shared pool in the center. This listing is for: EL CASTILLO - residential home with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a full kitchen with dining and living area. (Please see our other listings for other apartments or entire property). POOL AREA - An oasis pool with a southern view and overhanging palms. The pool deck includes lounging, cooking, and movie areas. The pool area is shared with guests in the casitas only. A trellish archway stretches the entire length of the home's entrance where, in the green season, morning glories cover the drive and invite you in. You will have a private code to enter the gates and the driveway has enough parking foreither one full sized / SUV car and one motorcycle or golf cart, or two small cars. EL CASTILLO is located in the heart of Tamarindo, which is known for its vibrancy and has a unique of mix of modern amenities, natural beauty, youthful energy, wonderful people, an inclusive community, walkability, and a pura vida vibe! There are loads of options of outdoor activities, yoga & health retreats, entertainment & nightlife! Here you'll be close to it all - but secluded enough for privacy and serenity. Playa Tamarindo beach is just a few minutes walk from the property, and you can also walk to Playa Langosta beach. There is parking and a pool that is shared with guests of the casistas only. Our property manager, Yira, tries to greet you upon arrival, if possible. She is always available through the app to answer questions. The property is in a bustling beach neighborhood - on a street with primarily other hotels / guest accommodations. It is a short walking distance to the beach and the heart of town with many shops, restaurants, stores, grocery stores, pharmacy, etc. to choose from. We are happy to welcome your pup, but please let us know beforehand and ensure they are well-behaved. We ask that you clean up after your furry friend and not leave them unattended to avoid any damage or disruption to the property. Please note that we can only accommodate dogs and no other types of pets, and we don't allow smoking on the premises. Monkeys (and sometimes Iguanas and occasionally other animals) will often enjoy the Monkey Walk leading to the property, hence the name! They are one of the many attractions of Costa Rica, and you may hear them from time to time outside of the window. As is Tamarindo, there are critters and it's part of the way of life here. Tamarindo also experiences brief power outages regularly. As vibrant as Tamarindo is, we do have quiet time between 11 am and 7 pm so neighbors can enjoy their rest. We have a pack and play / crib in storage - please request in advance so we can set it out for you at check-in time. The whole property is gated, but the pool does not have a separate gate. Please use with caution. Please be sure to read / follow the house rules regarding pool use. Rooftop access to main house is NOT AVAILABLE at this time. Do not attempt to access the roof. HOUSE MANUAL / RULES We invite you to make yourself at home during your stay. WiFi passwords are posted in each unit / pool area. There may be more than WiFi password in a space due to the nature of the construction to ensure you have a great signal in every space. The internet is 200+ mgps, fiber optic high speed! All televisions are smart tvs (except in master bedroom, main house) equipped with Netflix, internet, Bluetooth, etc. On demand hot water is available. Water is a very precious and valuable commodity everywhere, but particularly in our area which has experienced significant droughts and can actually run out of supply. We ask everyone to do their part to help save the water: - don't leave faucets running - turn off faucet when brushing teeth or hand washing dishes - Use dishwasher / washing machine for full loads only - limit your shower time to five minutes or less - reuse towels - notify us of any leaks - do not use garden hose to wash your vehicles Due to the monkeys and iguanas climbing on local power lines, it is possible that you may experience a flicker or temporary power outage. In this case, the hot water heater will power off. Simply press the power button on the tankless hot water system located under each kitchen sink in the apartment units, and out back above the washing machine in the main house. If, for any reason, the power stays out for a period of time when you need to access the double gate for your car, we do have a key in a lockbox that will allow you to open the gates manually. Please contact us if this happens and we will provide you the code. The keys will go in at the top corner of each of the gates – you must be very careful to not turn too hard or it will break the key! You are provided a key for the gate for access to the gate door, so you can always access gate door regardless. Air conditioners are controlled with the remote. They are very quick to cool your space and you can adjust the settings to your preference. We ask that every guest please help conserve our precious natural resources by powering off the ACs any time you are not in the room. This is GREATLY appreciated. Please be mindful of the volume after 11 pm as we do have neighbors. The outdoor lights are on a timer that turn off at 11 pm. Filled garbage bags need to be tied and put in bins. You’ll go outside the gate in the driveway, and there is a covered black metal bin next to gate keypad. Once you dispose of your trash bag, please be sure the lid is able to close all the way. We all know about those monkeys and other animals roaming around by now! Toilets – as is very common in most of Costa Rica and the rest of Central America, nothing gets flushed down the toilets. There are waste bins in every bathroom. This is something you will get used to as you spend time in Central America. There is a washer / dryer set located behind the main house. If you’re in the house, you will see them as you walk out the kitchen door. If you are accessing from the apartments, walk up to the porch at the main house and go to the left and walk behind house that way. You will see a metal set of stairs that lead to the roof. ROOF ACCESS IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLIMB TO ROOF! Lastly, please note that our home is not to be used for any commercial purposes without prior approval and permits, and that you are expected to follow all local, state, and federal laws. Thank you!   POOL / OUTDOOR AREA Pool towels and accessories are located in the brown bin by the pool. The white towels inside are for inside use only. Because the pool is part of your private, gated experience, there is no lifeguard on duty. We want you to have fun, but it is important for everyone’s safety that you follow the pool rules: POOL RULES NO SWIMMING ALONE CHILDREN MUST HAVE ADULT WITH THEM IN POOL AREA SHOWER BEFORE ENTERING POOL (to avoid build up of lotions and mucky / foaming water) NO JUMPING, RUNNING, OR ROUGHHOUSING IN POOL AREA NO DIVING IN POOL DO NOT BRING ANIMALS INTO POOL AREA GLASS AND SHATTERABLE ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED IN POOL AREA NON TOILET-TRAINED CHILDREN ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR SWIM DIAPERS NO PEEING IN POOL NO POOL ACCESS BETWEEN 11 PM AND 6 AM. OUTDOOR BATHING / SWIMMING PROHIBITED DURING AN ELECTRICAL STORM GUESTS SWIM AT THEIR OWN RISK POOL MAXIMUM DEPTH: 5 feet *DO NOT ATTEMPT POOL MAINTENANCE OR TO MANUEVER ANY VALVES YOURSELVES, OR DRAIN OR ADD WATER. PLEASE CONTACT US SO WE CAN SEND OUR POOL MAINTENANCE OVER IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS ATTENTION. ANY ATTEMPT TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EVICTION OF THE PREMISES.* CHECK OUT TIME IS 11 AM Turn things off: We ask that guests help conserve energy / protect our precious resources by turning off a/c units when not in the rooms and at check-out time.
