Our stay at Elephant Lodge was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Located right in the Tarangire area, the lodge seamlessly blends into the stunning natural surroundings. The absolute highlight is the small watering hole on-site, which attracts wild animals throughout the day. The lodge definitely lives up to its name: watching a whole herd of elephants and zebras while enjoying a meal, just a stone's throw away, was unforgettable. Because wild animals roam freely across the grounds, staff members escort you to your bungalow at all times, making you feel completely safe and well cared for. Our two-bedroom family bungalow was comfortable, featuring an open bathroom in the main bedroom, a second separate bathroom, and a private rooftop terrace. The tranquil view across the wilderness toward the distant lake is breathtaking. The hospitality was exceptional. The staff is extremely attentive, warm, and friendly. The food exceeded our expectations, especially the thoughtful and lovingly prepared five-course dinner menu, which changes every evening. On our first day, we were surprised with an open-jeep drive to the nearby lake, where we enjoyed sunset drinks surrounded by wildlife. We had pre-booked a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park, and our guide, Innocent, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, incredibly friendly, and went above and beyond to make our safari special. The entrance to the core national park is very close to the lodge. We saw an abundance of wildlife in the beautiful landscape, including giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, and gazelles. To top it off, we were lucky enough to see lions and get an up-close view of two leopards.

Note for future travelers: The road leading to the lodge is quite rough and bumpy. It seemed a bit under-signposted, as our driver from the airport had some trouble finding the way. Additionally, be sure to bring insect repellent and wear long-sleeved clothing for the game drive, as tsetse flies are present in the area.

Die Elephantlodge ist ein wunderbarer Ort. Das Personal ist durch und durch warmherzig, das Essen schmeckt hervorragend und der Name ist Programm. Elefanten kommen mehrmals täglich direkt an die Lodge, es ist faszinierend. Die Unterkunft hat durch eine Wasseraufbereitungsanlage Trinkwasser, was in Tansania sehr besonders ist. Wir hatten einen Gamedrive mit Innocent, den die Lodge für uns organisiert hat. Hier wollen wir ein großes Lob aussprechen, da er kompetent und sehr engagiert durch den Tag geführt hat. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Direkt vor der Unterkunft war eine Kontrollstelle, die Geld für den Park von uns haben wollte. Diesen Betrag mussten wir am Ende unseres Aufenthalts bar in der Unterkunft zahlen, ohne eine Quittung zu erhalten. Da die Lodge außerhalb des Tarangireparks liegt, erschließt sich uns diese Zahlung nicht.
