If you want to enjoy beaches on the East coast of Zanzibar, which are clean and not overcrowded, Breezes in Dongwe is a good place to go.
For a half board and not an all inclusive hotel, Breezes is relatively expensive in comparison, because the room rates are high and you will pay every lunch and every drink extra. The food and the drinks are good but not as good as the room rate and the prices (to be paid in US Dollars) would suggest and it might not be the cook’s or the barman or barmaid’s mistakes, but probably due to the budget that they are given.
Staff is very nice - many (not all of the) employees authentically - however the hotel leaves a taste that benefits for higher level management are maximised and that high level management and not the customer is king.

Staff were exceptional. Food menus catered to varied needs; servers even remembered my lactose free requirements, and altered my menus accordingly. Grounds and beach were impeccable, pool was always crystal clear. Free entertainment most evenings, we had acrobats and a story teller one evening. Security made us feel taken care of. The spa offered a full menus of services.

Customer service was exceptional. The property is gorgeous, and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff is unequaled. Very enjoyable stay. We will definitely return.
