The whole experience at Shikitei was fabulous. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful, our room was really spacious and comfortable and the kintetsi dinners were simply beautiful. A huge thank you to everyone at the hotel for giving us a wonderful taste of Japanese hospitality.

We felt transported in a different time and era. it was a true Japanese experience. the staff was beyond wonderful and if you get the chance to test their dinner it was beyond expectations!!!
the room are the traditional Japanese style which was lovely yet the facilities would need a bit of upgrading

Sheer Japanese luxury. From the moment we arrived until our departure we were treated like royalty. You could not call our space a room, it was more of an apartment, incredibly spacious, absolutely authentic. An enormous variety of food served for breakfast and dinner. Location two minutes walk from the deer park and a pleasant stroll into Nara.

The location is wonderful
The lodge is a bit run down and the food was not very good and quite expensive. I wouldn’t order the dinner again.
