A stressful experience that resulted in my family leaving shortly after arrival.

Nothing.

I booked this apartment through Booking.com for my mother and my adult nephew. I have used Booking.com for well over 15 years and travel frequently, and this was the first negative experience our family has had. Communication before arrival was poor, with repeated attempts to contact the host regarding check-in resulting in slow and inconsistent responses. When my mother and nephew arrived at the advertised check-in time, they found debris underneath the sofa bed and bedding that my nephew was not comfortable using. The concerns were reported immediately, and photographs were taken before anything was moved or cleaned. Instead of addressing the concerns through the Booking.com messaging platform, my mother received a phone call by the host while she was alone in the apartment. During that conversation, she felt her concerns were dismissed and was told someone would be coming to escort her from the property. Regardless of the intent, this left a 74-year-old woman feeling uncomfortable remaining at the property. My mother and nephew left shortly after arrival and secured alternative accommodation at their own expense. The host later stated the apartment had been inspected and found to be in good condition, but that inspection took place after they had already left and after the photographs had been submitted. What disappointed us most was not only the condition encountered on arrival, but the way our concerns were handled. We reported the issues immediately and expected a genuine effort to resolve them. Instead, the situation escalated to the point where my family no longer felt safe staying. At the time of writing, our refund request through Booking.com remains unresolved. I hope this review helps future guests make an informed decision.

Never again

Wasn’t able to get access, apparently due to technical issues sending the access code. Neither the property owner or Booking.Com have had the decency to explain why the telephone number we were asked to call on our arrival wasn’t answered on four separate occasions, or why the Booking.com app wouldn’t send the access code to us.
