The location was good, a few minutes drive from Kunming Station (not Kunming South!), Old Street night market, and Green Lakes Park. The hotel itself was clean and functional, with polite staff. Breakfast was okay; it's buffet style with a reasonable selection given that this isn't a big hotel. f you want somewhere close by for dinner, turn left out of the hotel, cross the road via the footbridge, and take a right turn immediately after the shopping mall. Great local food at low prices!
Too much technology. It took us ages to work out how to flush the toilet, and we never did manage to work out how to get hot water for a cup of tea. We had to unplug the clock to stop it playing annoying messages whenever we came into the room. And whilst I appreciate there isn't a lot of space in the room, it would be good to have somewhere to hand wet towels.

Breakfast had quite a variety, although the taste not to my liking. Spacious dining area with many tables and chairs. Dining area cleaning and service staff was nice and patient. The water dispenser and voice control system (Xiaodu) were really useful (got to instruct in Chinese). Room was quite spacious, and we had two 24" suitcases. There were many small eateries and shops around.
Staff did not response to my questions at all, despite sending multiple (at least 3 times) enquiries. To me, this is bad customer service. Security was non existence, anyone can hop onto the lift without the use of card key. At one time, no one was at the reception area. I requested for a quiet room, but i got a room right in front of the lift. Soundproofing was bad from traffic noise and from loud speaking neighbours or staff from the corridor, so we couldn't open the window to circulate the air. We even had to draw both the curtains to soften the traffic noise. They knew about the soundproofing issues therefore they provided ear plugs in the room. Cleaning staff did not refill the shower gel, no phone in the room so we couldn't reach the staff. Room smelled of cigarette, although a No Smoking sign was pasted on the wall along our floor corridor, yet hotel provided ash trays for them to use in the corridor.
