About this house rental
Come relax in this three bedroom and 2 bath home. Located at the end of the road in a beautiful grove of pines and only minutes from the Mount Elbert trail head. This home has all the modern conveniences while offering a back country life style. Home is only 10 minutes to Twin Lakes and 25 minutes to Leadville. The breathtaking natural beauty of Colorado's largest glacial lakes, reflecting some of the nation's highest peaks, makes Twin Lakes one of the world's most scenic places. A fifteen-minute drive from Leadville, or hour-long journey over Independence Pass from Aspen, will take travelers to a peaceful world of pristine mountain landscapes. The Historic Village of Twin Lakes, once busy as a mountain transportation hub between Aspen and Leadville during the gold rush days, was described in 1885 as "the most charming summer mountain resort in Colorado." Very little has changed in Twin Lakes since then. In the event of inclement weather (ex: heavy snow, etc.) we will not be able to help with any vehicle issues. We recommend using 4-wheel and All Wheel drive vehicles to get to the property during these times. This location will meet all your needs.Lastly, we ask that you respect our highly valued water. Overall, pretty good. But the main bathroom sink and tub still drain slowly, which a previous person also indicated, so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I had a really nice stay at the house. The gas fireplace in the living room created such a cozy atmosphere, and overall, the home was very enjoyable.There were just a couple of small things that could be improved. The beds weren’t quite as comfortable as I’d hoped, and a few areas could have used a bit more attention in terms of cleaning. Thank you for a lovely stay—I truly appreciated the cozy atmosphere and the home’s charm.

The property was exactly what we needed for a quick trip to Colorado. Kids enjoyed the ping pong table. Definitely need a four wheel drive when it snows. We happened to come in when a winter storm was going on and for sure needed four wheel drive. The view was beautiful after the snow.

Pros:
- Beautiful location and housing
- Plenty of space for our full group of 8
Cons:
- 2 smoke alarms had been removed from the kitchen/living areas (there were a couple more in the bedrooms, but imo the kitchen/living areas with the gas fireplace were more important to have those in)
- Pilot light had been left on in the gas fireplace, though we didn't notice till it got dark enough to see it and had to spend a bit of time figuring out how to turn the thing off
- Large amounts of dust in certain areas (vents, fan blades, some decorations, mostly up high but enough to have to clean off the upstairs ceiling fan in order to use)
- Garbage disposal leaked water when ran
Not a con since it was an incorrect assumption on our part and therefore nothing against the host/house, but just an FYI for others - no wifi at this location, and very poor phone reception. Another incorrect assumption, no AC, despite the thermostat indicating otherwise. Our trip was the second week of June, and while the temps got to around 80, the west wall being entirely window made the place heat up to several degrees more (70 outside / 85 inside, for example) during the afternoon in full sun. It wasn't unbearable or even all that uncomfortable with the windows open, but probably not a good idea for anything warmer than full sun/75 deg days.
Overall, we had a rather interesting stay figuring out the house and thought the interior/exterior was beautiful but wouldn't recommend for warmer temps/summers.
