About this cottage rental
Sugar Cane Cottage is located on the eastern end of Sugar Cane Beach looking out across Mangrove Bay towards the west. It is the sister cottage to Sunset Studio (www.vrbo.com/4623361ha), which is located at the other end of the beach. It is 10 minutes from Dockyard and 15 minutes from the main beaches.
It is a single room studio unit with a loft space for sleeping, modelled on the tiny house concept. There is a king sized bed in the loft area, together with small built in closets either side of the bed. The living area comprises a corner sofa unit that can convert to 2 single beds. The kitchenette is a very compact “galley” style kitchen that has a full stove, fridge/freezer, toaster & electric kettle. Flat screen TV in lounge and loft area with fire tv and firestick, internet access, air-conditioning throughout. The bathroom has a large shower.
The unit has direct access to our beach. The front patio overlooks Mangrove Bay on the Western side of the unit. On the Northern and Eastern sides are a larger patio area with a built in seating area and comfortable deck furniture & bar-b-que area.
The exterior of the unit is designed to resemble the wooden cottages built in Somerset in the late 19th – early 20th Centuries, by West Indian workers who were brought to the Island to work at Dockyard. This property is a perfect spot for exploring all of Bermuda. It has everything you need and the outside space is way better than any hotel. The beach is beautiful and the kayak / SUP are so handy for exploring. You can paddle out to the nearby islands and experience how beautiful it is. The bed is really comfortable and the property is well equipped. The bus stop and ferry port are so close. You can walk to shops, takeaways, restaurants. Would recommend booking both properties if you’re two couples so you have space between you but also your own privacy, and basically a private beach between you. Christine was super helpful with any questions before and during our stay. Thank you

The location is perfect. Near our daughter’s home, right next to the water, private beach. Right at a bus stop, and we love riding the bus and ferry in Bermuda. We had a fire in the fire pit and played games like charades around the fire one evening with grandkids and whole family. The host was very attentive to our concerns. I do wish there was a table with chairs indoors, but space is limited. Overall a very successful week in Paradise.

We’re not aware of the construction activity directly next to the property prior to making arrangements- workers would come and go throughout the day using the electrical outlets on the patio and water spigot. There was no inside seating, other than the sofa and patio chairs outside which limited our seating after swimming. We were not advised of the landscaper scheduled during our stay and we had to stay inside during a rainstorm because he was occupying the two chairs under the covered porch for 1 1/2 hrs . No coffee maker other than a single serve “K” type and a teapot. Freezer portion of the refrigerator was frosted up. Wifi was fine but could not get the TV to work. The private beach was great but concerned that after the dive shop is completed next door it won’t be so private anymore. The a/c unit filter was very dusty. The upstairs loft was comfortable but again, no seating other than the bed, and tall people would have an issue with ceilings. The car rental suggestion was helpful and the cottage was supplied with a charging plug.
