The Blanca location is a hidden Jem if you want to be away from most things to see the night sky and to gaze at Mt. Blanca. The view from the bay window cannot be beat! The house is new construction and has all the amenities you need for your stay with an open floor plan. The beds were nice and having 2 bathrooms is great. Not to mention, the showers themselves and the STRONG water pressure was just simply AMAZING! They even have fogless mirrors! While I don't know the whole story of the house, I got the feeling it was thought out and constructed with care (like outlet screws all lined up either vertically or horizontally) but we did notice some oddities like having the same ceiling fan and remote in both bed rooms meant a struggle to control each fan separately (more of an annoyance). While the house is off in the distance by itself, the diner in town was great for meals if you don't want to cook. Just try to save room for a slice of their home made pie! The house was close enough to our main destination of the Sand Dunes National Park (get your sand board in town) and we also went on side visits to Alamosa (the closest grocery stores), Fort Garland and San Luis. We encountered great views and wonderful people along the way.
First off I did not realize what this Evolve business stuff was and it's on me for not researching it fully. From Evolve's own website: "We're a hybrid vacation rental management solution offering strategic support and flexible tools to help owners reach their goals." What did this mean for our stay? Nothing but a middle-man who couldn't do anything without the owner involvement. Granted, the owner of the house had some personal business and couldn't be in town, which I understand but in my case, that meant nothing that came up was addressed during my stay (but I do believe they tried). The other thing is that booking.com asks that you communicate with the owner via their app to keep everything "safe." But Evolve says "Here, text this #". When issues came up I felt they were passing the buck but at that time I just didn't understand Evolve did not own the property and frankly, didn't "manage" it. Beyond this, there are things you should know as well: 1) Entering the house - ignore the lock box at the bottom. The code they give you is to be typed on the door lock keypad but the black numbers on the pad blend in so well to the black background that we didn't notice it at first. 2) Star gazing - The first night we tried to get our eyes used to the dark before going out BUT walking straight out the front door with the intention of star gazing, you will be blinded by the flood light! You must walk along the outside of the house towards the garage and then turn to walk straight to the Adirondack chairs area. Yes, a light will come on by the garage but just keep you eyes squinted, this light is not as bright and turns off faster. The house has flood lights on all sides which are too sensitive and turn on from time to time so just keep your gaze away from the house.
