About this apartment rental
Experience Amsterdam from one of its most beautiful historic canal houses. Sonnenberg is a unique 17th-century property, built in 1649 and located on the Herengracht in the heart of the famous Nine Streets. With its original stepped gable, oak beams, wooden floors and historic staircase, the house offers a rare glimpse into Amsterdam’s Golden Age.
The apartment occupies two entire floors of this remarkable home, giving you space, privacy and wonderful canal views. The cosy living room is the perfect place to relax after exploring Amsterdam, with a comfortable sofa, TV and canal-side bench. At the rear, a large dining table provides a lovely setting for breakfast, dinner or a relaxed evening together.
The compact self-catering area includes a fridge, dishwasher, microwave/oven, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and everything you need for light meals. Please note that, in accordance with local regulations, there is no stove or full kitchen sink. A full-size separate sink is available on the same floor.
Upstairs you will find two comfortable bedrooms, one overlooking the canal, and a bathroom with bath and shower. The bedrooms can be arranged as doubles or twins on request.
The location could hardly be better. Step outside and you are in the Nine Streets, surrounded by independent boutiques, cafés, restaurants and beautiful canals. Dam Square, the Flower Market, Spui, Jordaan, Westerkerk and the Anne Frank House are all within easy walking distance.
Please note: this is a genuine 400-year-old canal house, and its historic character includes steep and narrow circular staircases. There are two internal flights between the entrance, living room and bedrooms. They are challenging for guests with limited mobility.
If you are looking for an authentic Amsterdam experience, with history, character and a beautiful canal right outside your door, Sonnenberg offers a truly special place to stay.
