- The spacious room and bathroom was a nice change from the compact and cramped hotel rooms in Tokyo. The additional space made the stay significantly more comfortable, providing ample room for us to organise our shopping and luggages.
- The apartment is in a quiet area with almost no traffic and outside noise. About 6–7 mins walk from Higashi-Nihonbashi Station, which has a direct train connection from Narita Airport T2 so was a pretty convenient travel for us from the airport. There is a large OK Store 6 mins walk away if you want to do grocery shopping. Otherwise, there is a smaller convenience store (Lawsons) 4 mins walk away for snacks or late supper.
- Facilities and amenities were clean and appeared new. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of pots, pans and cutlery, a big fridge, as well as a hob for those who wish to cook, although we did not use them.
- The smart TV was a great addition, allowing us to log in and watch YouTube/ Netflix comfortably to relax after a long day out.
- The self-check-in process, which required us to email passport copies and personal information to a 163.com email address. We had initial data security concerns and contacted Booking.com for reassurance. Although everything went smoothly, a secure online portal or self-check-in kiosk would have provided greater peace of mind.
- Waste separation was required, including sorting burnable, non-burnable and recyclable items, with cans and plastic bottles separated. However, there were insufficient bins, so we had to use plastic bags to store the sorted rubbish. Washing and drying recyclables before disposal was also an added inconvenience compared with staying at a hotel.
- The building has no elevator and the stairways are narrow. This was not an issue for us as two able-bodied adults, but may be inconvenient for travellers with wheelchairs, infant strollers or mobility difficulties.
- These were minor inconveniences that were manageable for us but worth noting as these may be a big issue for others. One thing to keep in mind is that they arise due to this being an apartment rather than a hotel. Overall, the extra space, comfort and amenities in this apartment more than made up for these minor inconveniences to us, and we had a very pleasant stay.
